Counterfeit Coolant Warning

Just a heads up guys

We have had been contact by a few customers asking if we have a new coolant called EC7. After looking into it we have discovered a Chinese company has been producing a fake coolant called EC7 and selling it with the XSPC logo.

This coolant is likely to be either water and dye, or a low quality, toxic antifreeze. We would like to warn our customers not to use this product as it will offer little or no protection for your system.

The original XSPC coolant is called EC6 and we have no plans for a product called EC7. Always make sure you buy products from an official XSPC reseller as counterfeit products are becoming a bigger issue for us.

Below is a photo of the fake coolant.

heh. interesting
i'd like to know what's actually in it
does anyone feel like buying and analyzing it?

Damn it! Just done a write up on this and thought I'd check before posting.. Good catch & top job Coolmiester.

Where can I buy? I need some antifreeze for my car.

Someone needs to buy it and do a full check of what this contains. I'm calling substandard distilled water.

Its very odd that a company would target the watercooling market, I thought they'd only target big consumer products (e.g. ipads). Obviously not.

i suppose if it was really good, they would just launch their own version lol

Beats are cheap junk.. they break easily too. Kind of like Monster cables, way overpriced for what they were... used to be like $125 for an HDMI cable that you could get for $12 lol

Nah you'd be surprised, I service GHDs and the amount of fakes I get come through is just ridonkulous.

There is counterfeit everything, almost. From clothes to headphones, washing powder to furniture, household cleaning chemicals to engine lubricants/hydraulic fluids.

If its something you can buy a branded version of thats more expensive than other brands there is a factory somewhere in the world churning out copies, British customs are actually a little overwhelmed with it because its more of a problem than drugs or weapons.

Oh right.

Well I've spent ALOT of time dealing with the fake ipads/iphones partly as a hobby (they pop up on ebay, although thanks to the youtube user ashens they're not nearly as cheap :I) and partly as the occasional foreign student has one. They usually run android or (if you're unlucky) a custom made java based OS. The latter tend to be more rare.
