Corsair to release new 3Ghz Dominator Ram

Hi guys,

I am looking at upgrading to socket 2011 with a 3930K or 3960X with this kind of RAM, my question is:

Most of the boards i can see don't support high memory clocks.

Asus Rampage IV Extreme supports 2400, so can i go higher, will it work?

G1 Assassin 2 says support 2133mhz.

Asrock Fatal1ty X79 Champion says 2500+

Does this mean its only been tested to be capable of this speed RAM or it will actually work with higher speeds like 2800 or 3ghz?

I think actually getting these to run at 3000MHz will require a lot of tweaking. In my limited experience with the LGA 2011 chips it can be a bit of a lottery if your processor will run stable with 2,400MHz or faster memory. 1866MHz and below seems to be easy to get working on them all however.

Yeah, i have my current Dominators running at 2000mhz, because thats what they were tested at, so if i were to get something like this i would ideally want it to run what they advertised it for.

Been craving X79 goodness lately.

So if they are rated to 3000mhz could in theory a person drop it to 2133/2400 but have micro timings

they probably run at like 13-14-14-xx 1.65v timings as the2400/2600mhz kits run around 10-12-12-xx or 11-11-11-xx timings

I think the only time you're really gonna need that sort of speed is in a ramdisk or ramcache surely? I think they look pretty cool, but they're too damn high! But what would be cool is to see if corsair bring out a water block for them, just like Mushkin's copperheads.

The question really on my mind is: when's Tom gonna go OverKILL3D on these bad boys? xD

The highest spec, and most expensive, on the website atm is 16GB 2666MHz 10-12-12-31 1.65V for the measly price of $533

Have 4gb Kingston 2133mhz 9-11-9-27-1T.They run 2400mhz 9-11-9-28-1T on my R4E.No worries there.
