Corsair psu cables question

I am going to get another corsair psu for my new build, but I want to single sleeve the cables. Anyone have an idea what the round tube that is in the heat shrink near the one end of the cable or its purpose? Its not a capacitor as I thought I read somewhere, its like a metallic tube. Thanks for any help you might be able to give me.

I found out what it is. Its a ferrite core to help with EMI. But I have read a few different views on keeping them and getting rid of them. Anyone on here have a view on the subject of keeping them or getting rid of them?
