Corsair force 3 vs Mushkin Chronos

Hey everyone,

So my new build will start on the release of Ivy Bridge (I'm hearing 29th April)

I've been looking at SSDs for ages and settled on the 120GB Corsair Force 3 v2, but today I saw a 240GB Mushkin Chronos for only £170. I was just wondering why the low price tag? it has some great specs and the 240GB Corsair is £220+ for the same capacity and similar specs.

Sorry if this has been asked before but I couldn't find it. Thanks, Ryan.

I looked at that Chronos also. Aria deal right? - I looked at some reviews and it would appear that Mushkin are simply selling the same stuff as their competitors at a lower price. The same NAND chips the same Sandforce controller the same firmware. In the benchmarks I saw it was pulling around 85,000 IOP's which is almost at the 90K they advertise.

I've noticed Mushkin selling RAM cheaper than Corsair in the UK but this is the first time I've taken note of their SSD range. I'm thinking about buying one and trying it, has a 3 year warranty anyway.

I was looking at the Intel 520 240GB, but this Mushkin Chronos 240GB is around £80 cheaper and I doubt would notice a significant difference in terms of real world.

The newer Sandforce like the Chronos Deluxe are using an improved controller SF-2282 and Synchronous 32nm Flash Memory as opposed to the Chronos SF-2281 controller with Asynchronous 25nm Nand, just read a few reviews, it's still worth it for £169.99

Either would wipe the floor with my 300GB Raptor I know that.

Both SSD's are great, being a owner of the 120gb Mushkin Chronos, i can say its the best SSD i've used so far, i read reviews before i bought it and they were very good. I've had it just over a month now and its working like a champ and the best thing about it was it fitted into my budget very nicely

The 240Gb version wasn't available for £169.99 at the time i got mines otherwise without a doubt, that's the model i would have got, its definitely worth it for this price

Thanks for the replies guys and thanks for double checking for me. I also hope this will make people aware of the great products that Mushkin and Corsair offer. It seems Mushkin just manage to break into many different areas of the market with great success.

I have a Force 3 but the price of the Mushkin drive is too good to miss. If I was in this situation when I purchased my SSD I would have gone for the Chronos.
