Big isn't it? Crikey, I just had to do a super duper cowboy deluxe on my second HS fan to clear for the memory

Thankfully the Noctuas allow for it, you can move the fan clips up and clip the fan on slightly raised..

This has got me thinking though.. How much OC will this stuff take? I would like to raise my FSB aswell as using the multi but I confess to knowing absolutely zilcho about ram overclocking.

It's 800mhz XMS2 if that helps.

Also, a massive thanks to Sean. Very very kind of you sir I doff my cap :)

Its best to link it in with the fsb mate tbh. I doubt youll get much more than 1000 on that ram (obv dependant on what that set goes like) really depends if your cpu will do 500fsb. tbh ram wise its hardly worth it unless you are overclocking the cpu aswell.

what else do you OC tho aswell al the multi and bus speed,do you rais the NB

i would also like to no i use dominators 1066Mhz

Yeah she's a 940 :) Not used Intel since my E4500 (the overclocking animal, 3ghz  )

This board doesn't split buses nor offers you the chance to 1:33 and so on.. Reason I want to up the FSB is to get another 100mhz out of the CPU (3.5). It's not stable when MPed that high, even with voltage tweeks. So, I figured if I up the bus by something silly I might get it stable. I read a few OC guides in mags and they got it to 3.6 just on the FSB. The Asrock isn't the best on OCing options tbh. It's either MP or FSB and doesn't seem to contain any other settings.

I'll get out my calculator in a bit and see what the ram will be recieving with the CPU worked to 3.5 :)

Oh... Silly = small. at 17x I would only need... let's see... 5.88 on the FSB raising the ram toooo...

823mhz or something like that.

i have mine at 3.6 at 1.42v (must change sig) i have mu multi at 17.5 bus is at 200

i think you need to up the NB multi but keep it under 2000mhz,and i have no idea what the stock NB multi or volts are even for my board lol

Yeah that NB thing (or hypertransport) confuses the heck out of me ! It's just another thing added to the table of complication :D

I know on the newer boards they go up to 4000mhz or something and that mine is restricted to 2000 being an older board. I won't even go there though, will just try the theory I have worked above and see if I can make the magic marker that way :)

OH with the talk of FSB I thought you meant 775 intel!

Nah :D

My last Intel chip was in a 680i. Every one was telling me to whack the FSB to 266 for the 1066 overall. It works in halves or something so the game was to raise the FSB to 500 or something like that so you get 1066 bus. Problem is on the EVGA 680i you slam into a brick wall at around the 390 mark  So I could only ever get the E4500 (2.4ghz native) to 3ghz instead of the massive 3.4s and so forth people were hitting.

And on a board that cost over £250? Not good really is it? especially when you consider MSI did one for about 50p that performed the OC immaculately.
