Corsair Dominator Platinum 64GB DDR4

Has anyone picked up on the fact that Dom Plats are no longer shiny? My early 4x4 2133 C9 kit has a sort of semi polished machined look to the top face with really precise cut bright chamfered edges, the sides are much brighter than the top with a more even mirror finish. Recent kit's are dull all over and have more of a shot blasted dull look, the effect is noticeable in a rig I would say. I had a DDR3 2x4 2666 C11 kit recently which was the dull finish so it's not a DDR4 thing.

I'm not saying they look worse now, they do look nice with the darker ROG boards, but it's obviously less machining and finishing effort to make them in this way. Just checking i'm not the only person who has noticed.

Yep Plats are Plats. If you look closely at the shiny ones you can see the machining marks and they do pick up fingerprints and dust a little worse than the dull ones. I don't like the fact they say DDR4 on them personally. When DDR3 is obselete i'm going to sit around picking up the really old kits on ebay :p

Hi Tom

I saw your preview for the ASUS Z10PE-D8 WS.

Earlier in the year you reviewed the latest coolermaster stacker, and were frustrated that you could not use AIO coolers in the top section.
I found that the coolermaster nepton ones do fit as they have longer tubes over the corsair. The Z10PE and the Coolers fit work pretty well.

http://i.imgur.com/eLCHMJe.jpg - I really aught to get a better shot, it looks so good it's all tidied etc.

TONS of room for drives etc.

My CM Storm seemed a little too tight to get everything in.

Also, I thought for dual cpu's we needed ecc ram, hopefully your dominators will work as they look awesome. - I think you maybe limited to 64gb though. (possibly not really a limitation for your rendering etc)

I'm not fully 100% about the motherboard bios and all it's intricacies, however there appears to be very few of us that do own them at the moment.

You should be feeling excited - those chips and board are awesome ! once fired up you will get a guaranteed first place on HWbot for benchmarks with those chips. - will make a nice addition to your review :D
