Recently won the lottery and wondered which DDR4 Memory kit to buy? Perhaps the Corsair Dominator Platinum is just the ticket.

Can you pass me that workstation mobo when you finished with it Tom, it is xmas coming up :D

After seeing that board and those processors on it, I want to see that video not the memory now.

New board for your home server?

No matey lol that would be daft.

My home server will be Z97 and an I3 4130T

Tom,

Out of curiosity did you try clocking the kit past the rated 2400mhz? If so how'd you fair? If not, could you? I'm sure I'm not the only one that's curious.

Edit.
also honest opinion. I'm about to buy some of these... today actually. All i can find is the 2666mhz kits is it worth waiting for 2800mhz kits to be back in stock? Going to be paired with Rampage V and 5960x

Overkill 3D madness incoming - drop those four 980's in that dual Xeon board TOM and you will dominate every benchmark chart out there.

BTW: Can I borrow it when you're done? :p

G.Skill also has DDR4 64GB 8-stick 2800 kit out right now for the same $1500 price. Personally, I'd hang tight with a 16GB kit until prices come down.

Bonkers mental!! :notworthy: 72 Threads, 64Gb DDR4....yes yes Overkill.
First time in a while I am trembling with NeRdGasm!

8GB seems to be the norm now, 16Gb probably in another year so I can see 64GB being the norm in maybe 5 years time when manufacturing prices have come way down.

Recently had to upgrade to 16GB to play CoD:AW. 8GB is no longer enough!

Wow, Didn't think we'd reach the 8GB barrier so quickly :o

Just to clarify. The game uses around 4-5GB but on top of the general background apps/process etc 8GB was no longer sufficient.

You say quickly but how long have we been running games restricted at 32bit. Now consoles are 64bit it's more suitable to develop in 64bit from the start.

I remember when having 2GB of ram in Star Wars Galaxies *MMO* was considered overkill and sick in the face ! ^_^

The Dominator Platinum was a no brainer for me when I built my new rig. I only have a 32gig kit, and I love it. Simply put, it is the best of the best.
