First, I'd like to thank those of you that helped me put this setup together. You guys provided some great insights and I believe the end result will be awesome. This is going to be my first performance overclock build and I couldn't be happier of the quality I was able to get while only going $100 over budget.
Now, I have always been a fan of the Corsair Obsidian Series and I badly wanted to get the 650D. But after some further research, I have to say I did not like the idea of losing 2 USB 3.0 Ports to use the pass-thru. That and the wife won't let me pay that much for the case right now. So, I went with the Corsair Carbide 500R instead. I'm just glad I finally have the performance and appearance I want without my wife making me downgrade any further. Anyway, this morning she finally OK'd my shopping cart and the order has been placed. Here are the specs for my new upcoming build.
Final Setup:
Processor: Intel Core i5-3570k Ivy Bridge
Motherboard: MSI Big Bang Z77 MPower
Memory: Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600 16GB ( 2x 8GB )
Graphics: Sapphire FleX Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition 2GB
Hard Drive: Western Digital WD Black 500GB
Optical: Asus 24x DRW Black
CPU Cooler: Corsair Hydro H100i Extreme Performance
Power Supply: Corsair CX750M 750w Modular 80 Plus Bronze Active
Tower Case: Corsair Carbide Series 500R
Planned Upgrades and Additions:
Memory: additional 16 GB Corsair Vengeance 1600 w/ Corsair Memory Cooler
Graphics: additional Sapphire Radeon HD 7870 for Crossfire
Optical: Bluray Burner
Audio: Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium
SSD: Corsair Neutron Series GTX 240GB
As you can see its going to be a full Black theme with White LED lighting. I'm going to remove the hints of Yellow from the MPower mobo and I plan to add some sound activated White light strips.
Now, on to the customs. I have a friend that is going to stencil my right side panel in a light grey gunmetal matte to read "Corsair Black Edition Gaming" in a semi-grunge text format. So far that's the only idea's I have for customizing the case. Feel free to shoot me any additional ideas you guys might have that will help add some extra 'pop' to the tower.
That's about it for now. I look forward to getting this built and pics posted. Updates to follow...
