Corsair AF140 installation issue

Hey guys, built my first pc a while back and am very pleased with the result.

I've got an issue though, I've got 2 Corsair AF140 Quiet Editions as front intakes, 2 SP120'S on my H105 on the ceiling rad, and an AF140 Quiet as a rear exhaust.

The problem is with the rear AF140, I actually broke the first one I tried to mount to the case, a Corsair Graphite 780T. I used the screws supplied with the fan and tried to to get it snug to the case just so it wouldn't move, but the screw completely broke the rubber on one of the corners. I've got a replacement now and am hesitant to do the same again, I've used the screws provided, I have long fan screws which came with the case, identical to the ones used to attach fans to the H105 cooler, I tried them, but they are too thin too thin.

The fan is mounted but hanging loose, and with the 780T, theres an option to raise the fan which I'd like to do, but I feel if I tighten the screws anymore, I'm just going to knacker or break the rubber in one of the corners of the fan again. Anyone had a similar experience to this or got any advice, would like to avoid ruining another fan.

If you have to force it, then its too tight....

Simple rule of thumb when building pc's I go by. Has never let me down and no rattles either.

As for the screws, you want case screws for fans not the 6/32 threaded screws that are used on the AIO.

Are there any differences between your front intake AF140s and the exhaust? Or a difference between the screws? Surely if you are mounting the same fans with the same screws then there shouldn't be a problem? Assuming no manufacturer error between parts.

Assuming the fan lines up with the holes on the case correctly the I would mount it with the supplied screws as normal and as designed. Make sure you aren't tightening the screws too much though, they only have to hold the fan in place so screw them home but not tight.

The difference is in the screws. The intake fans take the long thin screws to mount to the case, the ones which come holding the pre-installed fans, the same type you use to attach fans to a radiator.

For the rear exhaust, the ones needed are similar to the type YouWhat has posted in the picture, 4 come with with the case, mounting the rear fan, And the AF fans supply you with the exact same type, it just feels super tight inside the rubber and the fan still rattles, really don't want to break another, would be a massive pain.
