Corsair acquires SCUF Gaming, adding premium gamepads to its product portfolio

It wouldn't be so bad if Corsair actually listened to their customers though, Many people including myself were asking for years for an Air 540 with a few tweaks i.e Vertical GPU bracket, Tempered glass on the side instead of plastic, Easier tool free disassembly of the front and top for the cleaning of the filters, The rest of the case was perfect, Yet they don't listen, Instead they bring out things that sacrifice on air flow for looks i.e the 680X, Looks great, Horrendous airflow.

And panel gaps so wide they completely ruin any pressure in the case.

As for quality, yeah these were the default keycaps on my K70 Rapid fire, a 200 euro keyboard, those weren't even a year old.

Forced me to buy PTD keycaps just to have a normal feel to a otherwise good keyboard.

Why would I when the Xbox controller is the best on the planet?

I'd love to buy a stupid expensive controller but the Microsoft ones are the best already.

That's why they're not changing it much for the new console.

yeah Skuf take the original concept and enhance it.
I'm with you. The elite controller is so good I see no reason to change.

What Skuf do for the real "nerd" is take the concept and tweak it. Such as different finishes, vinyl wrapping, enchanced battery, or the triggers are changed.

Scuff controllers let you reroute which buttons do which. You can make your circle one of the new paddles, etc.

It's more for the PS players I feel like. Me personally I don't care between Xbox/PS controllers. Both are the same to me. I've played console so long it takes nothing to change over between the two.

Still prefer M&K for 99% of games :D

Xbox elite lets you do that too.

Yes, but Scuf came to market in 2011/12ish while the Xbox One Elite Controller released in late 2015. If anything, Xbox stole their idea.

Its possible. Its normal for this to happen. Ok some may call it theft to an extent, but I like this kind of thing for the consumer because it doesn't limit you to only 1 model if you are after a particular feature.

As far as button mapping goes. And here is where Skuf maybe far better. I feel a little duped when i had the elite controller. Button mapping only allows you to remap one button to something else.

What I would have liked is as an example, to remap RB+LB, to 1 rear paddle which if you consider PC mouse/kb a very easy task to do. Or perhaps I wanted X and Y remapped to 1 button. Those awkward combinations that force you to shift your hand. Maybe Skuf can do that, but Microsoft cant.

Aside from that, the elite controller is still the nicest controller I have used.

Worth noting you can remap any Xbox controller (For a few years now), for disability/accessibility reasons.

Yeah, I'd love to have an Elite Controller. Was using an old Xbox 360 style USB gamepad for years. Recently upgraded to an Xbox One Pad with a wireless dongle. Can't justify the cost of the Elite.

No its cost is not justifiable. But having a slightly disposable income, the feel of it alone makes me glad. feels much more packed and solid rather than an empty shell with a circuit board of the normal controllers, which are still very good!

Apart from Corsair PSUs and non-RGB ML fans i wouldn't recommend their other products to anyone. All the good stuff that they have made was 2+ years ago. Now they are just some 3rd party company selling mediocre products with bling...

Interesting how tides have changed... Corsair releases crap products, Intel's CPUs aren't the best, ASUS' flagship ROG boards are just mid-range products... Many great names are caught slacking...
What happens when bean counters control pretty much everything. Profit over Innovation etc.

We need cold wars in every market sector to make sure innovation progresses as it should, otherwise stagnation will hit harder than a freight train.

AMD have started another CPU cold war against Intel; Chinese companies like Huawei, OnePlus, and Xiaomi have done the same in the mobile market.

Cost for the standard controllers aren't justifiable at all either. $60 for a plain controller. Why? It costs them probablyt $15 at most to make.

I hope next gen controllers come stock with these upgrades like the Elite controller.

IDK man. I've bought enough cheapo $15-20 controllers for old consoles to know how quickly they wear out. hard to beat controllers that are made by the platform holder. They last for ages.

Hopefully, there will not be a huge change to the controllers for next-gen. I want back buttons, but I don't want new features that will make the gamepads cost £££. The cost of Nintendo's Joy-cons are a joke.

Those $15-20 controllers probably cost less than $5 to make though.

Well the basic controller came with the console, so ive never seen a need for another.

Whilst true both the dualshock4 and Xbox One controllers are poor quality and don't last long. Every console gamer I know has gone through the original and are on their 2/3/4 controller.

What TF are they doing with them?

I've never had to replace a controller. Still have the DS4 that came with my launch PS4...

Agree with this, in many ways PS4 and Xbone controllers are better build quality than with previous gens(Less so with Xbox mainly because the X360 controller was near-infallible), not a big jump from 7th gen but using original 6th gen controllers nowadays the gulf is massive(PS2 controllers are definitely worse than you remember), and a PS1 or N64 controller... best not go there (Kids these days, amirite guyz?).

The exception being (besides those bloody 1st gen joy-cons generally), those rubber bits on the PS4 thumbsticks. But they're super easy and cheap to replace.
