Leave a reply, I know there relatively the same though is it worth the £20-30 more for the D14

if you read (viewed) the snow white comp review on the corator, you will realize that is the same design a the D14 and made by a sister company to Noctua (both owned by the same people).

it is just made by a company with smaller overheads than Noctua - hence it being cheaper.

  • the fan is the same specs
  • the tower has the same number of fins and is the same height
  • it has the same number of copper pipes
  • it even uses exactly the same fixing brackets

everyone likes Noctua because 'the team' endorse it.

give the Coolink Corator a chance

dugs only saying that because he's lonely, only person on oc3d with the cooler and he is trying to recruit more dont listen to him and get a D14

NH-D14 all the way.

Mine is cooling my 2500k at 4.5ghz and even with the hot weather temps are 57c and I can't even hear the fans from inside my case

Thats where I got the idea for this post, I knew they were relatively the same I just wanted to know if the D14 was worth £20-30 more than the DS, thanks for the in-depth reply buddy

which ever is cheaper tbh, as said both the same cooler and only the fans are different.

want to be different? get a silver arrow :thumb:

Not being funny or anything buddy but dug was giving me advice on what he thinks, just because he has the DS and said give the DS a chance doesn't mean he's lonely I am sure a lot of other people have the DS, from the reviews the DS is a very good cheaper alternative to the D14.

I asked the exact same question a few months back, got told as well as the D14 being cooler, the fans on the Corator are in fact very loud.

I ended up with a D14, they're worth the extra money, I'd recommend looking for a cooler in the same category as the D14 at least.

@grizzly: unless you have got you side panel off and the rig is right next to your ears, you are not going to tell the difference between the noise levels of both fans. point being... the GPU fans will be louder anyway

well said dug, thanks for your advice by the way buddy

come on guys, just chill out yea.

if you cant have a bit of fun doing something whats the point?

sound isnt stopped by a side panel but it is muffled a little, i have more fans in my case than most and i can hear every 1 of them as they all make a different noise depending upon their speeds.

with the d14 you get 2 good, expensive fans while the ds has 2 less heat pipes and 1 cheaper fan. cooling wise its about 10c warmer than the d14 with their stock fans but that gap does close if you use better fans on the ds.

id still get the silver arrow either way

Fair enough, had no first hand experience with it myself. Might like to know it was in fact your rig that made me ask the question and Tom who replied with that info lol.

in most of the comparisons i have read the D14 has won anyway, so lets recap, by telling him to get the better cooler i was giving him bad advice? whats the world coming to

anyone who thinks they are the same have a little look at some tests / comparisons

Its good but its not as good as the D14 and the fans are loud on 12v. It would be ok for lower spec/clocked CPU's. Thats why I sed it in the 3rd place rig but it did need the fan setting up properly to get it quiet.
