Cooler Master HAF XB

I came across this while browsing cases. Looks like it'd be good for a LAN/Test bench setup. Quite like to build a system in this so I could easily swap parts and OS drives etc.

What do you think? Scan have got it on pre-order, looks very good for around the £80 mark.

I think LinusTechTips did his normal very quick overview.

I have never been keen on the Cube design. It seems, to me atleast, hard to figure out where to put it. Too big to put underneath your monitor, too big to put on a desk, and too short to put on the floor.

If I wanted a LAN case I might go with a mATX tower, maybe the Fractal Define Mini (nice little quiet case)

or if I wanted a test bench, I might end up getting an open bed platform.

But this seems like one of the better cubes to me.

Looks alright for a LAN.
Although space is often an issue, so I'm not really sure it's the most appropriate case for a LAN - definitely not above the Prodigy, and it's not like you need a full ATX sized case to max out games anymore.
For a test bench, I don't really see it being accessible enough tbh.

Then cooling wise, I don't see it being better than conventional cases.

I just see it as something different really. Maybe a final attempt at CM pushing the HAF design as far as they can - despite it being pretty exhausted by now.

I'm not a massive fan really - Just don't see the point, and feel it would take up too much desk/floor space for my liking.

I wouldn't have it as my main rig, it'd just be for swapping stuff in and out. Getting data off people's corrupted HDD and a bit of folding. Would fit an H100 in the front as well...

Marshall amps are a thing of beauty, that is not... more like a box with some stuff hap-hazardously smacked on.
OK I kinda agree with you it is a bit of a fugly box - but then the whole HAF series is a bit marmite. I just like the practicality and functionality of it, I'm bored of tower cases - just want something to mess about with reallly...

Its a really nice concept, but I hate the way it looks. I agree with you though... thats why I like the little lian-li cases, theres so much you can wedge into them

Its definitely not going to win any beauty pageants, but I might have to get one anyway. They have also got a window panel for the roof.
