Computer shuts off when Vapo hits boot temp

Well...exactly as the thread title suggests. The vapo wil start fine, and work its way down to -10 (start temp) then it shuts off when the computer should boot. I`ve just changed PSU from a Tagan 480U-01 to an Enermax Noisetaker EG701 The Tagan had 1x12V rail with 28A, the Enermax has 2x12V rails, 18A, 17A (35A total) Is the PSU the problem? I bought it specifically for this rig. Any ideas?

Kenny

UPDATE: swapped out Enermax PSU for the Tagan, computer boots but no display. I`ve done something wrong somewhere. Pretty annoyed about the Enermax tho. Back to stock air and see if I can boot properly. I dont need this

Heh..Updated update. Back on stock air, computer is at least working. Lesson here: Take your damn time connecting stuff up!

Bypass the mobo using the wire trick on the PSU see if it boots up then.

One good thing on the DFI board is manual power switch :p .

Check all your connections make sure they are as they're supposed to be.

Plus I never rated to 600w enermax - the 660w sli unit is pretty good though.

Why not try a dual PSU rig?

Split 12V rails never work terribly well with vapochills, make sure you have balanced the load across the 2 rails so that neither is overloaded.

I dont know how to split the load between the rails- any advice?

The Enermax was recommended to me by Dazboots... I cant knock any of his choices.... hes doing much better than me

I`ve thought about twin PSUs but with the Vapochill in my Chieftec, I`m having enough trouble fitting one without cutting more holes in panels....!

Thanks for the help guys

Kenny

Maybe I should have gone PCP+C....!!

i really dont know what it can be m8.....

my enermax 600 watt is powering as follows....

3x120 mm fans 2 fan controllers 2x74 gig raptors usb mouse keyboard

4x 512 mushlin redline memory

venice @ 3.3 ghz

2x optical drives soundcard and molex on mach 2 gt r507 and no probs here so far..

Big HMMMMMM. will have another go, but it definately didnt like having a full computer hanging on it.

Might try it in the Vapochill case...trying it in the Chieftec still adds a new load of problems.

Kenny :)

UPDATE: Its the wee small hrs of Saturday, and the Enermax is working. In the Asetek case with the Vapo, and it works. No idea why, but it does :) Now to try a wee OC.....

Now I`m back where I was before.... not SuperPi stable at speeds higher than what I can do on air.... Grrrrr.....

Enermax did it again this morning.... shut down when I hit boot temp, and id switched my GPU for a TNT2. My Tagan is now in and working fine. The Enermax is outta here!

Still getting poor clocks tho. *sulk*

What you need is a PCP&P 510 SLI PSU.

£115 delivered from your truly as I have now successfully upgraded to the 850w unit.

LOL....Sorry Mav I missed that totally...been away for a couple days.

I need the Force, the luck, the jamminess, the skill, the money and the time. Oh, and the help off you guys in here! :)

One day....

Mmmm I've got a 600W enermax and I'm getting serious undervoltage in vcore. I think my ram should be a bit more stable when overclocking too, it's probably fluctuating wildly. But new PCP&C on the way courtesy of the coach :D should fix my probs.

Anyone want to buy a crappy, I mean Enermax 600W?

But seriously it's good unless u really overload it like I have (fx57 @ 1.65V 2x 7800gtxs @ 1.5V, 1gb PC5000 @ 2.8V (off 5V line for some reason - I really should change that back), 4 HDDs, 2 Optical drives, 1 FDD, the mach2 connector, the pcie extra molex connector, and about 5 fans).

Think wot gollums saying is that it's good for non sli units that are running watercooled, air cooled or mach or vapo LS/XEII cooled.

It's not good for VapoXE. PE SE (they use 12v compressor) as the split rails arent good enuff.

But a solid performer and if you are non-sli usign the forementioned cooling techniques - you should have plenty of juice there and that makes it a good buy.

Cheers

The Coach

LOL....I`d love that endorsement of my Enermax in the classifieds section... Still available, and its on Ebay as well.

BTW Gollum... I think ANY PSU (except maybe the PCP+C 850) would struggle under that lot...you sound surprised by the fact its finding it tough going... :)
