computer remote control

looks a bit like the little remote you get with the P5W :)

I just have my keyboard on the specific USB port that allows you to power the mobo tho.

Never used the little remote thing really.

power on function is mobo specific tho :(

The best bit is turning the PC on. So when I woke up, bam my pc was on and i could play tunes without my monitor being on and without getting out of bed :) You can control media player for watching DVD's or video files, great for when you have to pause it and cant be bothered going to your PC to do it. There are programmes that the remote will work with, otherwise you can add them yourself and set up the remote. Heres more info.

I believe that this does work with every mobo as it has a lead that your power button connects to and then connects to the mobo its self.

ah i need about 20 meters of distance

+ i need it to be a keyring fob.

reason being is that i am going to start my incar pc project soon.

More than 20m - as in range of the remote? You wouldn't need more than that even if it is in a car!

I'm getting one! It looks cool. If you find any other remotes please post links as I'm interested

The m-play timmy posted really is a neat bit of kit. As he said its got plug-ins for most programs, and its got a 'wrap' function, that lets you control the cursor on the screen. Although its no easy feat(not so much difficult as a slow procedure), its better than getting up:p.

Not much use for a car pc i know, but for anyone else looking for a remote...

Thats just what they call it. It basicly divides the screen up into 9 sections, pressing any of the 1-9 buttons on the remote moves the cursor to its respective area, and then you can just move it with the d-pad. Theres buttons on the remote for click and double click.

nah for me its not designed to be a media center remote

i JUST NEED an on/off/reset button.

my project requires syncing to a central server wirelessly, and i am not waiting in the car or going back to the car to switch the bloody thing on/off when its done.

so i just need that piece of equipment, as that does everything i need, controlling the piece of kit will be via a touchscreen - (which also happens to have a short range remote for the touchscreen functions).

my project requires the ability to remotely switch the machine on and off WITHOUT a network connection. Hence the piece of kit...
