Comparability issues

I'm having problems finding motherboards and CPUs that are compatible. I'm looking to get an i7 2600k but i'm struggling to find a dedicated gaming motherboard that will go with it. I desperately need your help!

I like the looks of the ASUS boards but I'm not sure if they're ok to get, thanks in advance guys!

(Ps my motherboard budget is about £300)

What features are you looking for in the board that would make it gaming orientated? If the 2600k is to remain stock then any of ASUS or Gigabytes boards should do and you should aim to find something with enough pci-e and pci sockets to accommodated the rest of your build.

Also for gaming you won't need more than a i5 2500(the k costs you an extra £2 and gives you the option of OC'ing) lets you save a little extra cash for the motherboard

I'm really unsure, this will be my first build so I'm looking for some pretty good stuff to Put in it, I'm really not sure about anything I should be getting. I know I'm getting a gtx 590 but if you could maybe list some mid to high range compatible parts I'd be super grateful!

Just read some stuff on a load of mid range P67 boards and for gaming (Purely Gaming) the Asus Sabertooth came out on top. Don't think you actually need to spend any more than this unless you really want top end. In that case I would go for the Gigabyte UD7.

Yep they are both socket 1366. tbh if this is your first ever build I think that rampage board might be a bit overwhelming as it has lots of advanced features that unless you really know what you are doing (or want to learn) you will never use. It has points were you can attach a voltmeter to get readings when overclocking, its a real ethusiast board...

I think you might be right, plus I could do with a bit of extra cash for my gpu. But I really like the gaming features, any similar boards that might be good?

Are you specifically interested in Intel? I know a lot of people are excited about the new AMD BullDozer stuff that's due out in 6 weeks or so.

Yeah, I've got no experience with AMD and feel like with my first proper rig I should stick with what I know. It might seem a bit narrow minded but with spending slot of money I kind of want what I'm already used to y'know

If you are looking for top quality and top performance,the z68x-ud7 is the motherboard to buy.

Bought one myself with a i7-2600k for folding.The i5-2500k is better suited for gaming and beats the i7-2600k in manny game related benchmarks.

When you have the box in hand,first thing to notice is how heavy it feels.Unboxing the mobo is an experience itself,first thing you`ll notice is how heavy the mobo is,easily twice as heavy as other mobos i have owned.The look in hand

,pictures dont give credit enough.Think i spent 1 hour,studying it thoroughly.

It looks sturdy,and feels sturdy,like it wont break no matter how much you throw at it.I will recommend this,if you want to spent a lot money,on 1155 platform.
