Coil whine, OCZ ZX1000W

*Sigh*... Watercooling was supposed to bring me almost perfect silence. My PSU had different ideas.

So, apparently my psu whines quite loudly under load, never noticed this with 2x GTX480 trying to suck as much dust from surrounding environ as possible...

Never had coil whine on my old OCZ GameXstream 600w (rest its soul).

Any way to fix this ?

Also, there appears some radio components in cables under shrinkwrap. What are those ? Didnt disassemble one only because i may have to return PSU... Caps for power filtering ??? Anyone ever checked ?

Ah OCZ..... theres not really anyway to fix coil whine that i know of apart from return the psu or sell it for a new one :)

Necropost to my own thread...meh...

I had ample time to bench the proverbial brown out of my system and i'm getting annoyed at how this rig looks and sounds in particular...

I have decided to splurge out for a Corsair 900D case to get my frankenstein of a rig in order.

However the noise problem still persists and i may actually sell the bloody OCZ as new problems arise (or just being noticed...).

1) I did some simple cable management mods to my current Antec 900 case, to tuck most of the cables away under the mobo tray... cpu power cable reaches BARELY. In 900d... it will DEFINITELY not reach cpu power socket if routed behind the tray...

2) Besides the usual coil whine i get (relatively) quite a lot of noise from the PSU fan, that never stops/slows. I thought that recent expensive PSU's manage RPMs depending on use/loads/temps... Not so, because my pc idles at ~130W and PSU is just as loud as me playing games full blast with SLI on and drawing near ~750W out of the wall (on frequent occassions - 2x gtx480 is a hungry thing...)... should it be like this ? Also, my management mod allowed me to actually cut an opening in the bottom of the case and flip PSU upside down to draw air from the underside of the case.

3) Also with the 900D planning i decided that i want to resleeve cables individually, but remembered those blasted caps (or whatever they are) in the cables. I cant seem to find any info on whether i can use third party longer cables or make some myself, pinouts/connectors and all that(would it even work without the caps ?). OCZ doesnt seem to sell any longer modular cables and it kind of leaves me with two choices - void warranty and mod or get rid of psu entirely...

This PSU is the loudest part of my rig, four AP140 fans dont make this much noise as one OCZ PSU fan... And i prefer to have near silence if i incur 300 quid worth of damage in the case department... And 160 quid that i paid for the OCZ ZX-1000W PSU...
