Codemasters reveals F1 2018's PC system requirments

I saw the high CPU requirements for new games coming. If I were an i5 7600K owner, I'd be pretty annoyed, especially at Intel for keeping i5's at QC w/o HT for so long.

It perhaps proves that the extra CPU power was needed, but features were reduced (eg AI) to run on an i5. Now that AMD has started a core/thread race, perhaps even 6 cores will be irrelevant within a couple of years.

If only codemasters would do a proper RaceDriver Grid as well. Sigh.

But F1 is looking to be one of the best F1 sims out there so far.

I do have to wonder what the 8600K offers that the 6000/7000 series doesn't?

Project Cars 2 uses AVX which isn't specific to the 8000 series alone. So that does puzzle me.

Yeah, it is amazing how many games can use multi-threaded CPUs well these days. AMD has solved the multi-core chicken/egg problem with Ryzen.

Six-core processors are now relatively cheap, so developers have plenty of reasons to support them, especially when considering the potential of future Ryzen-based consoles.

Now let's just hope one if our favorite franchises, Total War, can finally get there butt into gear and give us proper multi threading.
