cod 4 or 5

care to say why?

Both come into this:

#1 too mainstream

#2 hackers

#3 laggers

#4 kids

#5 guns are horrible

#6 the game is just 'boring'

#7 maps are too overpopulated

#8 maps are too erm... predictable

#9 not really any good players on there

#10 host will always leave the game (on consoles ofc)

#11 the bullet registry is way off, WAY OFF

#12 it's something that has been done over and over

#13 the only reason people play it is because PS3 and XB360 are lacking behind, and are lazy

#14 you get put into the game with 55 gold cross @ level 1

#15 people abuse you on mic

#16 people have mic on to annoy you with a fan or something spinning next to the mic

#17 random spam of grenades constantly

#18 game consists of 90% snipers, 10% campers

#19 hitboxes + latency is way off, you shoot someone who is lagging in the head, they don't die. When you're lagging you can't hit ANYTHING

#20 game is boring, it's the same over and over... game modes boring, weapons boring, nothing is good about it at all.

And trust me I did get into it on the PC playing vs ButtonBashers and Tek9 in mixes... But it sucks, it's nothing new and brings nothing to the gaming community.

People only play it because their friends do.

Now you give me a game that doesn't suffer from these problems.

Here:

Medal of Honor: Allied Assault

Halo 2

Grand Theft Auto(when people lag they get hit)

Wolfenstein: Enemy territory

Return to Castle Wolfenstein

Pokemon World Online

Americas Army

I can name plenty more if needed.:p

Notice how the majority of them are small games created by small companies. Activision also made Enemy Territory AFAIK and they seemed to do a better job with a FREE FPS game.

Now give me a game that you consider equal to CoD4/5 in terms of gameplay/game modes that does not have this problem.

Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory - much better than COD, you have classes, everyone has a role rather than the just spray and pray. The game requires engineers, field-ops, covert-ops, medics and even soldiers for heavy weapons etc...

Medal of Honor - objective based game play, game modes similar to COD.

Halo 2 - game modes similar in some ways.

all have none of the problems I stated above.

And now for million pound question.

Which of these games actually hold up to Cal of Duty 4 in the form of popularity?

Enemy Territory at the release and launch did outrun COD4 during it's first months of opening. Wolfenstein was released early 2000's and apparently reached over 100 million plays, and that was when I used to play in 2005-2006.

Call of Duty is a spawn off other games which have already came up with the ideas. I hate copycat games that seem to become popular because ones friend have the game. Come to think of it, I wouldn't of played COD4 if it wasn't for my friend.

COD is and always will be another copycat game, and I use copycat loosely. Got to admit COD is a boring genre and the graphics haven't improved from number 2.

Hmm... didn't know a lot of that. Guess it has to do with me getting into this stuff recently.

Your last sentence is what really intrigues me.

How can you say such a question?

Hundreds of people have stated how this sequel has had major graphical updates thanks to the new engine and such.

I was quite literally shocked when I read that last sentence.

graphics are definately better. I agree with the camping. but use a pc where you can have direct control over people and then stop the camping by kicking having rules. I have played some of the best matches on cod4.
