CoD 4 error: IW3sp.exe has stopped working

I can't believe this ... have bought a brandnew sealed copy of Call of Duty 4 and played the campaign mode up to the point where you follow Captain Price in the camouflage clothes ... to the big hotel building ... and suddenly the program closes down with the error message:

IW3sp.exe has stopped working

I have googled this very message and it found a lot of people encountering the same error message ... but at different stages ... (discussed in many different forums).

This is very strange and of course, f r u s t r a t i n g !

Anyone encountered the same problem ?

Thank you

iw = infinaty ward

sp = single player / mp = multiplayer

Will backup my "save files" and "multiplayer profile" and reinstall the game ... somebody else said problem was solved by just plugging in a headphone into the mic socket.

that mission is one of the best as well mate.Have you been to the infinity ward forums? Is the game patched up to date?

Game is patched to v1.4 but negative.

Then patched from v1.4 to v1.5 but still negative.

Here is a picture of the loading screen only 2 seconds before it crashes.

I have the same as you!!! I updated to 1.4 patch it worked after I installed, I turned off laptop went back onto COD a few days later... goes black screen then crash!!! But there is one fix for you! That is download a crack as long as you have the legal CDkey it is fine :). www.gamecopyworld.com ... look for 1.4... BTW the website is not for hacking or cracking... Only to get games that you own to work... Overclock is not affiliated with the website it is an alternative for the error fix.

I have this for multiplayer.... Can't fix atm!!!

ok, here's how I've made it work now.

1. Uninstalled CoD 4 and re-installed it again.

2. Got the unlocker (for all levels) and went straight to the problem level Act II / One Shot, One Kill ... and ?

It works as if it never had a problem before ... even with No DVD patch :wavey:.

You really need to be extra patient and persistant with PC problems (and there are plenty) ... otherwise better look for a different hobby.

Hey :) sorry didn't reply and glad you sorted out the problem :) also... I fixed my MP problem aswell :), it is a known bug apparently with COD4 and laptop realtek soundcards. I had to enable an audio mixer in the Volume panel and it worked :).

Good to see the problem is happening to less people now.
