hi guys,

i am considering buying modern warfare 2 for my pc though i do not currently have an internet connection,

i have just ordered an xfx ati 4890 which obviously has two dvi ports...

i was wondering, as i am new to pc gaming... are co-op and multiplayer games avalible one these games... as in not lan or internet etc. but just two xbox controllers plugged into the pc,

ontop of this i was wondering if i could run two monitors for a two player match from my one computer (my comp is powerful it can handle two monitors at 1680x1050) for most games....

this is something that i have been wondering for a while but havnt seen much evidence of two player games on pc, but considering and xbox is basically the same thing it seems like pcs should have the same capabilities.

cheers all

Xbox controllers are not compatible with MW2 unless you use other software.

Single PC co-op or multiplayer never really happens on PC except for maybe sports games.

that sucks ASS! I was playing it on my brothers xbox and the special ops and it ws amazing, a two player split screen would be amazing... they should seriously consider doing that.. rather than designing for a market that have no friends!

I doubt theres a big market for this, so I doubt it would be implemented. Can't you hook 2 Xbox's on a LAN and play co-op?

you used to be able to do something along those lines

If you do what you suggest then it will require two xboxs and two cops of the game - you cant make one console act like a server

Hamachi

Free to use and it allows you to play your PS3 or XBOX online without paying, and it's legal. You can play all those old XBOX or PS2 games online, Halo 1 had no online, with this tool you can play Halo1 online! Same with any LAN-able game.

You can use this for co-op, but it has to be on seperate computer/console. He can be in another country and you can play LAN with him.

sorry I wasn't that clear.

I meant co-op on the pc, not lan, not online..

simply two people playing a two player game on the pc.

ofcourse you can plug in two controllers to the pc, and i can also plug in two screens, to me it seems sense for some games to have the option to play 2 player games on pc, you can on a snes but not on my friggin £800 pc?!?!

I do not have internet at the moment

I do have friends to play co-op and verses games with.

there is no doubt my pc has the capabilities for this, let alone one pc powering two different screens with two different people playing each other on a 2 player game!

if this is not an option, they need to sort it because encouraging ONLY player games and lan/internet games is a bit depressing

The only thing i can think of is using emulators and stuff like m.u.g.e.n

oh and footy games

id like to see more co op/mp games on the local machine

Plug both screens in, install Virtualbox (http://www.virtualbox.org/ - if you have hardware virtualisation enabled in BIOS this will make it much smoother), install your OS of choice into the VM then install the game onto both your PC and the VM. Link one controller to the PC, one to the VM. Put the VM on the secondary screen.

You'll have to play it LAN style but the VM will have a virtual network link to your PC so no physical wiring is necessary.

Tada: one computer, two gamers and a hell of a lot of resource usage. It'll really test what your PC is capable of.

Other than this, no. There aren't many locally co-operative games available due to the nature of the interface. I do remember the days when I used to play two player though, one on WASD and one on the arrow keys :D Commodore Amiga 2400 it was. We were amazed :D

It annoys me a bit that theres hardly any co-op/multiplayer games for the PC. Think the only one I have is Pro Evo, never found a shooter that allows it :(

Good idea by Deshman, but like he said, will seriously test your PC lol
