Hiya guys.. need a new Motherboard and CPU for my second PC.

Not needing "Uber" power.. just MSN power.. and a little bit of folding. :)

50quid for the lot.. so like 20quid on the CPU and 30 on the Motherboard..

A good place to buy? Other than eBay.. a good online shop.

Could strech to about 70quid.. any ideas?
 
MMm, I Could grab a GB from this machine and use that.. :)

But I do have some spare DDR1.

Poo.. only have AGP GPUs about the space.. any chance for a AGP board for the Dual core?

This ASROCK board has onboard Video (not to mention being one of the choice OSX86 boards -- gna build a C2D hackintosh arond 1 soon)

and tbh i rele wldn go 4 the older Prescott Celerys (the 1 i piked is a C2D - 1 core)

Prescott Microarc based so it has less performance per Mhz than the Core microarc

and sooo power inefficient

the C2Cellery is much better (and will give a gr8r % oc)

Found it!

Only 31quid.. can get rid of the Corsair DDR2 and the other motherboard and just get this one.. sorted.. DDR I have laying about.. AGP GPU laying about. :)

Just to add my 2 cents.

I`d not buy anything for such a pc tbh, I`d scrounge bits from all sources.

Left over pc bits ftw!

Either that or scour the OC3D FS section to see who`s chucking out what.

Well really, it is just 2 peice of a puzzel :)

Fitting the ram I have laying about and a GPU I have laying about.. oh and a harddisk.. and a sound card.

*givin heads up* that mobo u selected is AM2+

and ur welcome for the help ne time m8
 
Just make sure you update the bios when you get it. Mine had a queer boot issue and random re-starts till the newest one was applied.

Now runs my pearants pc nice and smooth:)

My only concern is that I don't know if a Celeron D 420 can use DDR1 ram.

But we shall see when I get the board.
 
It should do. Its the memory controller that deals with it. Your concern should be the bios it comes with having the micro code to run the celley out the box;)
