Cheapo cheapo

I decided to build a really cheap quadcore PC for a change and I was amazed by the cheapness of the packaging :p

Only the case box and the box containing the rest of the components were opened for this picture. (The Gigabyte GPU was ordered separately, so no complaints about that one.)

Especially the Be Quiet PSU was cheaply packaged: bubble wrap around the PSU itself and nothing else.

Specs:
AMD Athlon II X4 640 3.00 GHz AM3 Box
Asus M5A78L-M LE AMD 760G, SATA300 RAID
Be Quiet PSU System Power 350W 80Plus Bulk
Corsair Value select 2x2GB DDR3 PC10666 CL9
Gigabyte Midi Tower GZ-P5
Samsung SH-224BB/BEBE 24x SATA Bulk
Seagate 3.5" 250GB SATA600 7200RPM ST250DM000
Gigabyte R7750OC-2GI

The good part is that all this hasn't cost me more than €380 (£308).
(Still had another copy of Windows 7 Ultimate.)

Little update while installing the OS:
The case is craptastic... The HD Audio connector won't even reach the connector on the mobo. And fitting the GPU was based on been lucky that the pins didn't break. It all feels cheap as well.

To be honest, I think I appreciate my other (more expensive) computers more since I've built this one... You should give it a try :p

Time to OC the b*****d tomorrow. ;)

I have made loads of pcs using cheapo parts and eventually you get used to stuff being crappy lol what are you making this pc for anyway or is it jut for fun? :p

Well, I could post all my computers here and you'd be mind-boggled why I decided to make this one. :p
Basically I made this for a laugh, but I also wanted to see how cheap I could get a half-decent PC that can run recent games properly. :p This setup was the cheapest most decent setup I could think of at the time.

I've made a lot of computers for myself and others (mainly others), but I can say with ease: stay away from the Gigabyte GZ-P5 case. :p It's pure ****.
(I normally recommend parts to others if they ask me to assemble it. Just so I can get a minimum of build quality in the setups I assemble. :p )

I got that question yesterday: "Could you build me a PC for €200? I want to play BF3 on ultra settings."

i build so many crap builds like that when i was on apprenticeship, you can try to convince the customer to spend extra £50 and get alot better build but thats too much for them, i cant image what they would say if i told them i send almost a grand on my pc(back in the day, atm not worth more then 500 at best).

cheapest way to go imho is to get barebones

Nah, just need a back-up for a while. I'll run a Teamspeak 3 server on it and some other stuff.

Edit:
Since it was really loud, I decided to remove the useless 80mm casefan (was running at 100% constantly anyway, since it only had a molex-connector). Temps are stable.

But what I saw on that casefan was just ridiculous: "SUPER FAN - High quality Long life Low noise"... Yeah right.
