Cheap place to buy a Mac?

Hey guys I'm looking to expand into iOS development and I need a mac really to do so.

I was just wondering if there are any cheap places to get a macbook/mac mini?

Cheers, Scott.

I just recently bought a 27 inch 2560x1440 iMac so I can do OSX development as well. Surprisingly really cheap. It was $1999 which was less then I was expecting, especially since I can use it as a 2560x1440 display on my PC =P. But for your actual question I would really just buy a new one from apple, it is a little bit more but it will be better in the long run.

I think I may save up for a macbook pro, that way I can also use it as a windows laptop as I don't have one

I got my macbook from CEX for £500 a couple of years ago, it had a dead battery hence the cheap price but you might be able to find some other good deals.

I was thinking fleebay but I don't really trust it for expensive electronics really. Might see if someone is selling one locally so I can check it out in person.

I don't think the words 'mac' and 'cheap' go together

What about a Mac Mini? They are pretty capable little boxes. The base model is only $599. Buy some memory for it and you should have a decent platform.

Have a look on Gumtree, maybe someone local or willing to include postage will have one about for a decent price.

This is looking like the most feasible option at the moment but I would have like a macbook so that I could use it as a Windows laptop as I don't have one and could do with one really.

There are some reasonably good deals but you're not really protected if it turns out to be knackered. Obviously I could look at it etc but there could be some underlying issues that I wouldn't be able to spot straight off for example :/

Go with a mac mini than upgrade the ram and the hdd to a ssd your self, The newer mac minis you can stall 2x 2.5 drives but you do have to buy a separate ribbon/cable to do that.

Iv got the cheaper i5 version nice machines got it plugged upto a 36inch monitor in my shop had it since launch and I can honestly say Iv never had a single issue with it...I did upgrade the ram and hdd my self

also have a look on apples refurbished site it can be hit or miss

Mac mini would be ideal but like I've said above I need a laptop really. Although if I can't find one within range a mini will have to do.

Thanks for pointing the refurb store out, I would have never noticed that it existed, I shall keep an eye on it
