Friend asked me to ask your opinion on the parts I would use on a pc for him.

Carbide 300R € 69,90*

970 Extreme3 € 74,90*

8 GB DDR3-1333 Kit € 39,99*

FX-8120 € 169,90* (price should drop over the next few days

)

SH-222BB (22 / 8 / 16 speed) € 16,99*

WD5000AAKX € 72,90*

Radeon HD 7850 € 249,90* (Sapphire 2 fan)

HR-02 Macho € 37,99*

WPM500 (500 Watt) € 44,99*

Total: € 777,46*

Depending on how much the cpu price drops, I might go with a better psu

I really don't recommend an FX-8120, wait till ivy bridge drops you might be able to pick up a 2500k instead with an Z68 board. For not a to bad price.

The rest seems fine though, but 500 watts doesnt give you much in the way of upgrading to multiple GPU/higher end card.

i dont even think that 500w from sharkoon will be enough to drive a 7850 and a hex core, which btw since the ivy brisge just came out the older 1155 will probably drop in price sometime soon, so you can pick up a 2500k.

also asrock doesnt make great quality mobos, especially if you dont power it properly, id go for something like asus or gigabyte

The reason I went 7850 is because it uses almost no energy at all. The fx8120 really isn't bad guys, I have both the amd and a 2500k here and the bulldozer outperforms it in everything multithreated.

I changed the psu to a 650 watt which should be enough to run CF 7850 and have the 8120 at 4.4-4.5 ghz.

The reason I didn'yt go intel is the boards are so much more expensive and don't really offer as much features.

IB is not yet availible here

Everything looks fine bud. The 7850 is a really awesome card, a very nice choice indeed. A very powerful budget gaming PC if I do say so myself

I think that is a great card. But it kinda knocks your cpu choice out of the door since an 8150 consumes about twice the energy of a 2500k.

Yea the 2500k and 8150 are on par overall but if you wanted to save money then get a 4100. You won't notice the difference in games.

Also I don't see a cpu cooler here?

Make sure you get a decent brand for psu. Corsair is always safe. 650w will not be enough for an overclocked 8150 and 2 gpus. I'd get an 850W. 8150 is a complete power hog.

Looks good to me. Adding another 7850 would be awesome, two of them pack some insane processing power! A good 650W PSU should do the job of running 2 7850 just fine if you decide to add another, something from Corsair, XFX, Enermax etc... and even the relatively new Rosewill Hive units are solid too.

cooler is the thermalright macho.

I'm aware of how much power it uses, but I think 660W should do tbh, don't think he'll ever cf and if he does, it should still be possible. He'll also be doing some compiling and pic/mov editing so a quad or hex is not really powerful enough. Anyway, does anyone here know a better cooler than the macho at the same price or cheaper ?

Yeah 650W will be fine.

As for the CPU cooler, ditch the Thermaltake and go for the Coolermaster Hyper 212 Evo. The CM unit is better and is actually a bit cheaper

A Coolermaster hyper 212+ would be very good. I have one lying around, but seeing as you live in Belgium it may be too expensive to get it to you.

I'm afraid it is :-( but the scythe mine2 is now up for only 25 euro, can't quiet remember what it was like so now i gotta watch another one of toms long videos lol

edit: sez it's crap for 50 euro's and compare it to the v6gt performance wyse.

at 25 i think that means it great value. just gotta get a better fan in, but ive got plenty laying around here
