Change in HS/F

Hi guys. As of recently I've began to mess around with my internals more and more and I've come to the conclusion that my HS/F needs changing. It isn't the best looking of things and sticks out like a sore thumb.

Here is a picture of my current HS/F (Scythe Ninja Copper) -

I'm after something which abides by the following;

- Nice looking

- Same or better cooling than my current HS/F

- Not too big

- Prefferably black

I've had my eyes on the Zalman CNPS9700 NT and its quite nice looking, although it might stick out because it has a green fan opposed to the rest of my case which is dominantly blue.

Thanks in advance for all your help. :)

Zalman CNPS9700 NT gets some good reviews. Looking to change my cooler for something which is black in colour.

I was impressed with the 9500 (little brother to 9700), but one thing I should point out is; they do take up a lot of space. Its easy to take the fan off, but replacement fans are rare.

Also, you will find, if you work on the motherboard near to the heatsink a strange red fluid dripping, at an alarming rate onto the motherboard from around the heat sink. Yes, your knuckles will be ripped apart and will bleed quite a bit before you notice you have cut yourself, because the heat sink is v. sharp on the edge. Just watch out for it is all I'm saying. The cooling is very good, but it is quite expensive.

Don`t know if a OCZ Vendetta2 would be any good to u. Whether the orientation would work in that way, or if the dfi will take it.

It cools that much better than the Alu-Scythe Ninja, can`t say it`d be cooler than the copper one.

Vendetta2 is pretty good, just replace the fan. I have a nexus real silent PWM 12cm fan on it, and noticed a drop of about 6C. Its one of the quietest, but buy a fan guard for the front of the fan and note that getting the push pins in can be a pita. The fan covers up a couple so if you can't get round the side you have real difficulty.

The other thing is that it is quite tall and wide so make sure you have space. The 790i has plenty of space but I don't know about yours.

a true will fit as long as you either dont use the side fan or shave the corner of the fan

Hmm. I'm looking to use a side fan in the future and so this cooler would be out of question. I liked that one also... :(

This will definitely be my cooler if I end up changing cases to something bigger. Thanks for the suggestion :)

One of the main annoying things about my heatsink at the moment is the copper colour, its a thing I've been trying to get away from for a while and by replacing it with another copper heatsink would just defeat the issue. Thanks for the help though, appreciated. :)

Thanks for the suggestion. I've looked around at pictures and decided that this will be my future heatsink. It fits some motherboards with large northbridges and I'm 70% sure it will fit my motherboard.

Conclusion - I've decided to save my money and go for something a little bit more meaningful as of now. If I do decide I need a new heatsink, It will probably be the OCZ Vendetta 2. Thanks for all the help guys, its appreciated. :)

The ZeroTherm Nirvana 120 I hear is supposed to be extremely good. Can pump up to 85 CFM of air, has a fan controller that you can strap to the top or your case, I say another guy do it in the Antec 900. It's also black, and the fan has blue LED's so it totally matches your Blach and Blue Color Scheme. It looks nice and is supposed to be extremely good. Make sure you use Artic 5 Silver, I hear Zerotherm's thermal paste is good, but Artic is better.

I made a thread. Not sure if this one or the Zalman 9700 is better; this one has a stronger fan so I'm assuming so, and I've heard guys getting 4.4 on their e8400's on this one and still fine, so I'm assuming so.
