That was a seriously badass trailer. Even if the mission was pretty similar to one that occurred in Witcher 3. Pretty excited to play this in 8 years :D

It really felt like the cinematic trailers for The Witcher 3. The end of the new trailer has "Killing Monsters" vibes.

Yeah, I find the idea of playing as Ciri kind of boring, to be honest. I wanted a prequel set before Geralt was even born. There's nothing to do with these characters anymore. Their story is over. The Witcher 3 was basically Ciri's story and it's done. And now we're supposed to have an entire trilogy with her? Why?

I think there are plenty of things that can be done with a sequel. Another thing to note is that the trailer shows Ciri with cat eyes and shows her drinking a Witcher potion. This implies that she is a full witcher now.

The end of The Witcher 3 had a conjunction of the spheres, and that could lead to more monsters, new monsters, and a lot of new problems. That probably means plenty of work for Witchers, and the possibility that more need to be created and trained.

There are definitely places that they can go with the story. Not sure if Ciri needs an entire trilogy, but a trilogy of games with her has not been confirmed either (at least as far as I am aware).

I just hope that they do not mess things up. The Witcher 3 wrapped things up nicely. That said, I would still like to see another game if the quality is kept high. Recently finished The Witcher 3, and it still holds up great.

I know they can do it. But that doesn't mean that it should be done. Even if they manage to write a really good story, and they probably will, telling that story is wrong in itself. Good writing isn't just about writing a good story, it's also about knowing what not to write.

This feels like what Hollywood does with constant sequels. Like what Disney/Marvel did after The Avengers: End Game. They can't let go of characters like Thor and Captain America, even though their character arcs are over, so they keep finding excuses to pump out new sequels and bring back old characters whose stories are over. It's the same with The Witcher 4. The Witcher 3 was Ciri's story as much as Geralt's, and her story was told. It's over. She became a witcher or she became an Empress. We don't need to know what happened next. Let it go.

I agree with you for the most part. People need to know when a story should end.

I think it wouldn't make sense for The Witcher 4 to follow Geralt, not after how The Witcher 3 ended.

As for Ciri, I think she was about 21 or so when The Witcher 3 ends? She's young, and it looks like the Canon ending for The Witcher 3 has her on "The Path". I see the end of The Witcher 3 as the start of her story, one where she is no longer an object that others want to control. She is free of her father, free of the wild hunt, and free of her destiny as she has already saved the world.

If they ended things with The Witcher 3, things would be tied up nicely. I just hope that they aren't returning to The Witcher to mess it up.

I hope this won't be another Suicide Squad situation where the fate of the Arkham series Batman is so terrible.

Anyways, I think CDPR will do a good job. I doubt they would do a Marvel with this. I don't even know what the last Marvel movie I watched was, and I used to watch pretty much all of them pre-Endgame.

People would probably not mind playing as Ciri if it was titled "Witcher" or something similar. Implying Witcher 4 implies Geralt is the main character.

It's really not a big deal to me. It doesn't feel forced like most female leads these days. Geralt had a finished story, It's wrapped up. I see people talking about prequels, well wouldn't a prequel be the same thing? Minus the character given to you it's the same world.

If the game is good who cares? If people don't like female leads well... Ciri is more tomboy than anything if that makes you feel better.

They are already doing it by continuing the story with Ciri. And like I said, I'm sure that they will write a fantastic story. And I'll probably buy it on day one. It's just that it will be a story that doesn't need to be told, or shouldn't be told.
