Caselabs is back, and here's what you need to know

Lets hope this "built by fans, for the fans" stays true before any price nonsense starts a riot.

Nice that EU get the long straw for once.

Can't wait to see what future holds for their cases. I like that they are taking the slow approach to introducing products.

Looking forward to this too, but as a Case Labs owner, I'm not expecting miracles. Essentially these are big, ugly, practical cases, with little to ZERO aesthetics. People seem to forget this. I'd love to see some actual DESIGN and FLAIR in these things.

I actually love the simple industrial look they bring.

Me too. What you do with the case makes it stand out. I still remember the builds from P0pe who I believe started the acrylic distroplates and flat fan mounting reservoir craze, which you see EK producing these days.

Or when everyone was using those BitFenix fans that were pants but looked awesome.

Very risky strat to relaunch now.

Materials prices are at the highest levels ever, heating bills are a joke and people have the least disposable income in decades.

Willy waving halo products are too plentiful and they will fail IMO. It's the same reason why Lian Li and Inwin have really wound down manufacturing of cases like this.

HEDT is also far less of a thing now than it was the last time these were being made. There are no HEDT Intel CPUs any more and AMD have made Threadripper for the rich only now.

Look around you. How many TR builds or logs have you seen on the newest gen? That would be none.

If they are going to make a go of this they need affordable bread and butter cases too. Otherwise? They will just repeat history.

They did say that it'll take time to build a new portfolio. To have bought the rights to the Case Labs brand and then do nothing with it because some have less disposable income than they used to seems a bit excessive and overly cautious. Their approach seems sensible to me.

TBH dude if it were my money at stake I would bow out. Maybe that is what they are doing, and waiting (and hoping) for market conditions to improve.

They will need a much more diverse line up than last time, that is for sure. As said, no one wants a server rack standing next to their desk any more.

You need to remember that Caselabs went bust for a reason. Whilst they tried to blame every one else at the time (Thermaltake, Trump, etc) it was pretty clear that they could not continue for many other reasons. And that is because, IMO, the market was shrinking for cases like that and flooded with affordable stuff.

They will succeed if they follow the times and downsize their catalogue.

Make replacement parts built to order only and focus on small case designs, and im sure they will pull it off. They are smart to hold off. Right now, they bought the brand, and I would guess thats the only debt they have. If I remember right, Swedish steel SSAB will be a very good competitive price considering its not required to import. If they take that path that is. Swedish metal in general is outstanding quality.

and heres me with a band new mercury s8 case sitting in the other room still in its box, got it got sick never got round to throwing anything in it
