Ok. A few years back there were some Nvidia cards that didn't draw power properly from their 6-pin connectors (or something like that). They were relying to heavily on drawing power directly from the Pci-e slot itself. After the cards fried enough boards Nvidia released some adapters to "help" with the problem (I remember seeing them on Nvidia's website)
Basically it was a Molex connector that had 2 wires going to this tiny board that looked like a Pci-e 1x.
So, essentially you plugged it into a free Pci-e slot and your graphics card would draw the power mostly from it instead of going through your motherboards power.
I'm wanting to try something with one of these but can't for the life of me find one or even remember what they called them. I also remember some other parts sites selling them too but still can't find anything.
