Cant connect to pretty much all games

Just tried tracert and ping on my mac, used my favourite CSS server, here's the results:

tracert

traceroute is gestart ...

traceroute: unknown host 213.163.72.139:27015

Ping

ping is gestart ...

ping: cannot resolve 213.163.72.139:27015: Unknown host

Also, I checked if my uTorrent port is being forwarded propperly and utorrent's port checker says it is.

Will try connecting directly to the modem when I get the chance but I'll have to wait till nobody is using the laptop cuz else theyll be cut off the internet and they won't like that :p

Update: Someone on a forum just told me something which explains why the tracert command doesn't work when used on game servers like that. You're supposed to leave out the port number for it to work.

After I did that tracert worked just fine.

Try leaving your router off for 30 mins

Have you done any network tweaks as I had and it was stopping me connecting to BFBC2 servers.

If not, your isp might have routing issues?

Network tweaks? Well not really.. I mean I let Auslogics BoostSpeed optimize my connection but I do that every time I install windows, and all it does is speed up my internet.. It has never caused me any problems before and I've been using it for like a year now.. =/ BFBC2 is the only game that DOES work xD

Probably routing issues with your isp

Get them to line test and ask for issues connecting to those IPs you cannot

I got them to test my line and it was fine. My best guess is a firewall issue but I really can't be bothered to uninstall it and lose all my rules and stuff at the moment. I'm probably getting a new hard drive soon so I will be reinstalling windows 7 when I do which means I'll have to reinstall all of my programs so if that doesn't fix it I'll.... I dunno.. let's just not think about that right now :p

Boot up into Safe Mode - With Networking. Ping the servers. Download www.xfire.com, browse the servers with that.

I can browse and ping the servers just fine (if I leave the port number out :p) it's just that when I double click the server and it tries to connect it simply fails. Does that rule out my ISP?

Just uninstalled my firewall, rebooted, tried playing CS:S, failed. =/

I fixed it. Apparantly the config file on the router was corrupt or something. I loaded up the factory settings and then configured it all like I had it and it worked! Although it's not rly of any use to me now since this 9500GS is killing my eyes with it's low frame rates atleast now I can play CSS. It's like the only game this 9500GS can decently run. Call of Duty 4 is too much for it even at my 1280x1024 resolution. I need a new GPU! I think I'll buy a 5770 Vapor-X and a Spinny F3 which is 250 in total in the Netherlands but I might just go with the 5850. That is, if the 5850s' availability improves and the prices drop to 200-250. Remember the prices I just mentioned are all in euro's and not in pounds ;)
