Cannot initialise my newly bought Samsung 840 EVO 250GB

Arrived today and trying to initialise it so i can use it.
I normally initialise drives via 'Create and Format Hard Drive Partitions' in windows by right clicking on the "Unallocated" space --> "New Simple Volume" --> Next, Next --> Assign Drive Letter --> Perform Quick Format --> Next --> Finish.

But when it finishes "formatting" an error comes up saying "The format did not complete successfully" and then a prompt comes up "You need to format the disk in drive E: before you can use it.

I proceed to format it then an error comes up again saying "Windows was unable to complete the format."

Any suggestions?

Only thing I can think of (saw a similar thing elsewhere but with a HDD) is checking your sata drivers are up to date and maybe trying a different formatting tool.

Do Samsung have a tool to wipe the drive? I know ocz has one maybe try find that.

Have you tried not formatting?
