Can i run a 7970 on a ASUS Maximus IV Extreme Z

just need some help with two questions:

1)Can i run a 7970 on a ASUS Maximus IV Extreme Z with a i7 2700k which has PCI express 2.0 lanes and will it be plug and play.

also the whole rig will be water cooled

2)what power supply should i use for this with overclocking head room (wattage)

Yeah the 7970 will run perfectly fine on a Maximus IV

As for the PSU, i'd say 800W should do nicely, would give you nice headroom for serious OC's and/or future upgrades. Something from Enermax, Corsair, Seasonic, XFX would be a good choice.
