Considering CoD's fanbase, the vast majority of people who have been begging of a remaster of MW2 don't care for the campaign and just want the multiplayer, so I don't know what Activision are trying to achieve here; remake the multiplayer later and say "we listened to the fans!"? Makes more sense to do the multiplayer right out the gate

I don't think that it would be wise to split their fanbase further. They already have Modern Warfare and Warzone running concurrently. Best not to cause another divide.

Which is true, I've just never met anyone who cares enough about MW2's campaign to want to pay for a remaster for it.

The Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer maps have been added to CoD4:Modern Warfare Remastered I think.
