Call of Duty Infinite Warfare PC Performance Review

480 beats a 980ti at 1440p? Well that was a shocking result to come by. Has COD always favored AMD like this?

Regarding vram consumption, many many games run like that. Use as much as possible even if it's not needed. It's faster to pull from memory than it is to reprocess something, think this is called hardware/shader/etc streaming or something like that.

I'm wondering this as well. The last COD favoured AMD as well, but I don't know whether that's true of issues going further back.

On a different note, I like that your review isn't just a slugfest of hatred. The game clearly deserves praise for its excellent performance and options, but the terrible decision (if it was indeed a 2-way decision) to split the community really puts a downer on everything. Also, I wish the graphics and level design had a little more... guts. It just looks so safe and dull at this stage.

Funny how the 1070 is all the way up top like it should be, whereas the 980ti cant even beat a mid ranged gpu...

It's a telltale sign of how unoptimized either the game or the drivers are as an RX-480 should not be beating a 980 Ti at all at anything.

There is a problem with this test.... with a 980ti (@1480/7600) I have many more frames at 3440x1440 and all settings on max. about 80 fps

yeah please redo the 980Ti testing. This result is not accurate. All other websites reviewing performance get a far higher result.

TBh I was actually hinting at the similar performance of the 1070 to the 980ti.

Wouldnt be surprised if there really was a problem with the 980ti config. No offense to the tester.

WYP do you close and reload the game when you change settings, or just change settings return to game and screengrab?

I.e. Do you allow the game to load it's optimised assets at each graphical setting or just change settings and pop back?

I always exit the game fully and re-enter the game when I change game settings for both benchmarking and taking screenshots.

Good lad. Just checking ;)

Defo something awry with the 980Ti numbers tho

Different cards perform differently in tests. Same with overclocking - every card (even if same manufacturer etc etc) will perform different as no two cards are ever identical when it comes to performance. You also might be running a newer / older version of the game (yes I know its only been out for a VERY short amount of time but regardless hotfixes and patches do come into play). You also could be running a different graphic card driver version.

Lots of little things come into play for performance testing.

Even a slight change in driver or game update isn't enough to give such a HUGE difference in performance.
