Call of Duty 2 on Vista?

Ive heard mixed reviews about it. Mine personally doesnt work. Others is working fine.

Im running 32bit Ultimate Edition. Have no idea why it wont run.

Tried compatability mode, reinstalls and patches. Still no luck.

It come up with a black screen then crashes to desktop saying the program needs to close etc etc.

Any suggestions?

All my other games are working hassle free :S

lmao.

Have u tried looking up the game publishers website ?

Yeap ive tried that too. They say it should work on vista. But alot of people are having big problems with it.

Its been the ONE game ive had trouble with. ALl the other games ive run them just fine!

Apart from Oblivion... When distant land is on, makes some weird speckled land appear which isnt really there.

Ah well.

I can`t see anything frightening in u`r profile that jumps out and says it`ll be a problem, with 2 exceptions:

Audio & Graphics - duh, but I`m pretty sure Kemp uses an X-Fi sound card and 8800 gfx.

As far as the gfx are concerned, u could prehaps dabble with a different driver set. Maybe not go for the up to date ones, but ones that were up to date when u`r card was out. (which I don`t know, prob 89... or 91.. ??? - or the first vista ones?? )

To check the sound, I think u could try disabling the onboard sound and try the game silent - if it runs really well, there`s u`r answer.

Actually I`d try the sound first (cos it`s easier). U may think the sound wouldn`t effect game performance significantly, but if u`r dX is fighting with it or it`s drivers, it`ll hamper other parts of a games performance.

yea personally the vista beta was crap but i would like to find out the improvements made to the os and if its any good for gameing

Thats a very good point. Im only using my onboard Realtek Sound.

Shame my Audigy 2 ZS doesnt work properly on Vista. Hate the lack of controls. Hence why im using the onboard, at least they have vista drivers!

Im going to reinstall COD2 now and try it once more. Will post with update :)

Ok ive now tested it after disabling my Onboard audio.

Guess what..? It works!

Theres the soloution for getting into the game. From there you can change your sound quality to "11hz Low" or "22Hz Med" depending on how much your onboard can handle.

Cheers for the idea Rastalovich - Reps :)

***UPDATE: COD2 still doesnt work with even low sound quality. Even patched to 1.3. Means the only playable way would be to put my Audigy back in... Still waiting for those decent Vista Drivers >:(

Very outdated Tox :P

I can get my audigy to work fine, but only with basic stuff on 2.1. No advanced stuff or any 5.1 support!

All I worry about with sound cards is if it runs my music! ;)

Anywhoo, 5.1 works fine with me!

Whats the problem with running in 2.1, not like you have your speakers set up for 5.1 anyway! :eh:

Use like a jack splitter! :)
