building a case from scratch

well im looking at investing some money in some new composite kit in the new year and was thinking id kinda like to build myself my own carbon fibre case or maybe even remake a case like the Silverstone Raven 02 or CM Storm Stryker out of carbon with a few mods to improve it.

im really just wanting to get your thoughts on if id be better off making a scratch build case or remaking a case.

also if building a case from scratch what sort of things do you think would be good or should i include?

A CF case would be interesting, I would say designing your own or copying another case comes down to how much experience you have building cases and how much time you want to invest. As for suggestions, you haven't listed what the PC is going to be used for or what your needs are, so there is really no way to make any suggestions.

think it would look good with the right extras as well. well ill never built a pc case before. going to be using it for a gaming pc with watercooling.

id say that pc parts specs will be

CPU: -Core i5 or i7 socket LGA 1155
Motherboad: - some sort of ATX motherboard not sure what as yet but maybe somethign with some colour
GPU: -crossfire 7950 or maybe wait till the next series comes out
SSD & HDD: - will be using one ssd for OS and a Hard drive for games etc

not sure what radiators id need to cool the cpu and gpu's but maybe do them in two sperate loops for two different colours

I think the Silverstone Raven 02 is the more "exotic" option. I don't know much about carbon fiber, but I believe that the real naked CF doesn't look good in the first place...

:)

yep the raven in all carbon fibre i think would look good and the storm stryker in carbon fibre and alufibre would also look good. real carbon fibre depends on which which you go for as to how it looks.

2/2 twill weave (the same weave pattern as the vinyls are based on. Tom has used the white version alot in his projects)

plain weave carbon dose not look as good and 4/4 twill weave is ok with some fabrics
