Build me a £400-500 gaming computer.

Also you can get a 1.5TB Seagate Barracuda Hard Drive for £65 on www.ebuyer.com and the noctua NH-D14 for £65 on www.dabs.com and if you spend £150 or more then try code june10 as this might get you £10 off the price

That's nowhere near as good as a system with even a 560ti in it tbh. Besides adding another £150 to the build is a huge increase on the original budget. With £650 you could start to look at a 2500K build tbh.

I think your find if you go with the amd option then it all comes to £534.05

*Facepalm* he didn't say "add another £150" what he said was that if he spends over£150 which he will be then he can use the code

Wanted to see what I could do with Intel

No overclocking and not so good motherboard but I just wanted to see what you could get

That's not a bad try there,

Oh god yeah just realized that

So yeah its £50 over budget but come on, its a 3570k on a z77 platform

That's a very good system for the money.

I think I've found the absolute best AMD system for the budget so now i'll have a look at Intel too.

This is what i've found

Gigabyte GA-A75-UD4 - £74.09 (Amazon)

AMD Athlon II X4 651K - £67.59 (Amazon)

Sapphire AMD Radeon 7850 2GB - £179.98 (Dabs)

Corsair 8GB Vengeance 1866MHz 9-9-9-24 1.5v - £46 (Ebuyer)

Corsair CX V2 500W - £44.76 (Ebuyer)

Seagate 1TB Barracuda SATA 6Gs/s 64MB Cache 7200RPM - £64.99 Dabs

ARIANET StealthX Type-R Black midi tower case - £31.99 (Yep you guessed it ARIA

Total Cost : £509.31

Decent build but I think if he spends an extra £50 or so he can get an epic intel build like the one I posted

oh wow there are so many options to choose from...

.

Now I'm thinking about getting the i5 2500k and a cheaper graphics card. lol

Or to get a cheaper CPU and a beast graphics card.

The question I have though is that if I get the cheaper CPU will I be able to upgrade it later on without getting a new MOBO.

Did you see the one i posted? Its a fantastic cpu and mobo with a pretty decent gpu for £50 extra, that is the best you could possibly get for that budget

if that is the choice for the sake of £50, hold on till you can afford the right parts, waste of money otherwise

If you went with a 2500K I do not think you will find a need to upgrade for at least a few years, by then Intel will have introduced a new socket anyhow. If you are wanting to do mostly gaming I would say spend your money on the graphics card.

if you went with a 2500k, like i did, even with a 5770 it is a good gaming platform playing most games at high settings. so pretty much any gpu over £100 right now is gonna be equal or better than this, so i would say get the 2500k/3570k and just get the best gpu you can.

With either system you are going to be getting pretty much the best CPU for the Socket that is possible, WIth the 1155 socket the only possible upgrade path would be to go and get an i7, and with the AMD build that is going to be the absolute best CPU for that socket.

Honestly though an all round better system would be the Intel i5 system as you would need a better CPU in every day life, but if we where to compare on just gaming alone then i would say the AMD system with the 651K would be the best bet as it has got the better GPU which has also got a 2GB Vram buffer which will future proof you more in games as the 1GB limit seems to be passed in some newer games such as Battlefield 3. Also the 7850 has got a better overclocking potential as it is made on the 28nm production line whereas the 6870 uses older tech, consumes more power and has less overclocking potential.

Just food for thought now, if you where to get the AMD system with a £45 motherboard, you could add a 7870 to the build instead of a 7850 or a 6870, with a total build cost of £540!!!

Also i would get the 1.5TB hard drive as suggested by cram instead of a 1TB like I added.

My only problem with the Intel build is that the Hard drive is a little small, I've got 1.5TB in my computer and i couldn't live with any less, i filled my 1TB hard drive up with games and various other software, along with DVD's and CD's i have ripped onto the drive. The other 500GB is needed to my brother can record his COD gameplay with his capture card.

But like i said, the i5 system is better just not in gaming, so you have to lose somewhere in order to gain somewhere else. You can't win them all.

You could do that. You could get a decent motherboard like a MSI z77 GD55 and put an i3 cpu in it. Then upgrade to the i5 later on. That will cost more that the AMD build though which means you'll get a poorer gaming experience in general. Games are about getting the best GPU possible in almost all situations.

If he is looking to save money then IMO he should go with the Z77A-G43 as it is cheap and still very good
