(budget) PC Headset

Hello,
Recently my mic broke, so I decided to switch to a headset. I use the headset for: movies, music from my ipod, games. Because I never have had "really" good headphones, earphones or speakers I am not so demanding. A headset of 20-30 will be an enormous step forward I think.
The problem is that my audio jack (light green) of my mobo (asrock 870 extreme 2) is already in use by my speakers. There are still connections on the front of my case, but its hard to get the plugs out, thats how I broke a couple of wires. Do I have to buy an additional sound card, or is there another option?

I've read some reviews, and these headsets look interesting:
- Arctic P301 http://www.amazon.com/Arctic-Coolin...F8&qid=1345468879&sr=8-3&keywords=arctic+p301
- Creative Fatal1ty gaming headset http://www.amazon.com/Creative-HS-8...1-1&keywords=creative+fatal1ty+gaming+headset
- Creative Tactic 3D Alpha http://www.amazon.com/Creative-Blas...9073&sr=1-1&keywords=creative+tactic+3d+alpha
- Sennheiser PC310 http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-PC...sr=1-1-fkmr0&keywords=sennheiser+pc+310+g4ame

With the Tactic 3D Alpha there is already a usb adapter included, so I dont have to buy an additonal soundcard or adapter.

If you do have other good suggestions I'd be glad to hear them. I hope you can explain the differences between the headsets.

I'd go for the usb headset. At that price - it doesnt really matter which you choose as the quality isnt really there IMO to worry about which it better. The usb will make things easier in your situation though.

I personally have: http://www.amazon.fr/Micro-casque-C...1_fkmr0_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1345487076&sr=8-3-fkmr0
(excuse the MW3 logos but they are cheaper for them than the non-'limited edition mw3' version)

While I dont see the quality of the actual headphones being any better than the ones you listed, I think these will be good in your situation. For one, they come with a switch box to switch between PC, xbox ps3... If lets say you just use PC, if it's switched to PC mode while in use, then it'll work fine. But if you switch to say xbox, it will cut out the headphones and your PC will automatically switch back to your speakers so you dont have to faf around with unplugging cables.
Obviously the option is also there for xbox or ps3 if you have them, but lets ignore the inferior consoles :P

Other than that, they have a good battery life as far as wireless gaming headphones go, and the range on them is ridiculous. They'll transmit from my room, through several walls, 1 concrete wall all the way downstairs which I think is a great feature, and for the price I think they are superb.

I know they are more expensive - but I do think it makes things easier having the wireless option, but also the receiver so you can switch easier between speakers and the headset.

If it is just from your list - as I said, get the usb one.

If you want to connect the headset to the back of the mobo then you should buy a mini jack splitter. I use one too for the exact same purpose (speakers and headset).

As far as headsets go, get a cheap clip on mic and buy a normal Sennheiser or something else with the rest of the budget. So you can still use it with your iPod and not have a stupid mic hanging around. I've seen some people do that with their Razers, looks really stupid.

Oh and don't get the Creative Fatality headset, you'll regret it. Two of my friends have one and their ears hurt after a few hours. Seems to be a common problem with these.

Edit: I've been looking on the internet a bit, I dont know what your budget exactly is but (if I, at this moment, had to buy a new headphone) I would get something like this. Just hope the Dutch websites arent a problem on this forum and since you are also Dutch I figured this would be a lot easier.:

Sony MDR 7506
Sony MDR ZX700

I'dd personally go for the 7506 but the zx700's might have a more neutral look and then get such a clip-on mic.

I can get the superlux here in Holland for a really cheap price, 681 (20 euro) and 688 (30 euro) On alot of forums I came across these superlux. They would be the best for the 20-30 euro headphones.
The headphones you mention are a bit at of my budget. The Zalman zm mic1 is available here in holland. The other options is buying an cheap chat headset and break the microphone off and attatch it the headphones

Ok, didnt really get what your budget was, but I guess those 2 will be fine. Get the zalman clip on, breaking a new headset isnt good and it will be stupid and annoying having to tape a broken off mic to your new headphones.

Does that clip have good noise cancellation? Or are there arny better microphones? Not that you can here me typing or clicking... Just discovered that amazon.co.uk also ships to Holland (free) now i can get my headset mic and splitter really cheap :)

I can break an headset and use some velcro to attatch it. If the mic isnt too good.

Maybe, but i think the mic is good enough. I read alot of good about them. I think im going to order it. Thanks for the advise.

I have one last question. Because its an semi-open headphone, can other people sitting next to me hear the music i listen or games i play?

Sound will leak yes, but it's not as bad as with fully open headphones. If you would like to use the headphones in public then it might annoy some people a little bit. If you really are concerned get a pair of closed headphones.

Do you mean when you are watching pr0n? Just kidding :p

As above others will be able to hear sound depending on how loud it is of course :)

I dont think I like it when othets are able to hear my music in public. Do you know any good closed Headphones?

My budget is 20-30 euro. The only good ones i've found in that range are the Sennheiser 201 and 202.

Get the HD202 from Sennheiser it has a little bit more bass than the HD201 which is a bit better for gaming (more bass that is). They sound decent too, we've actually got one at home lol. So just tried them out. :P

Oh and the cable is just super long so you can reach the back of your pc with ease.
