Video show's best,so if you have the time it's only short and show's my problem.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R6ZMEAN7HrI

I have formatted and tryed running my os on a different hdd

Bios up to date

All drivers up to date

nothing is overclocked and no recent changes have happend which may have caused this problem

Temps are perfect

This happends at random and has happend twice while i have been in the bios.

I booted up after this happend tonight and during post got an error message about the bios image and that is was recovering my backup bios (duel bios mobo) did this quickly and booted, couple hours later same problem as in the video, this has happend twice today once yesterday, and the odd couple days at random doing nothing in particular just useing the web etc, most times it has happend in a day 4.

I have a hunch it's my motherboard reason this is my second one of these motherboards last one failed bios even though it's a duel bios motherboard and i got a refurb back even though it was still in it's 12 months warranty ive now had this setup since 2010 so it's getting on specs below and ideas would be grand !

i7 920

If you have already had one do the same and now the replacement is doing the same, I would say it's the board again.

I won't touch another Gigabyte board myself as I had one that failed within a week of being bought, but they wouldn't touch it and neither would the shop where I bought it from, after about 18 months Gigabyte decided they would fix it and sent it back with the same problem, so I don't trust them.

My board was the Gigabyte X58 Extreme, and it had a South Bridge that was overheating and was loosing the Sata drives constantly, Gigabyte said that they wouldn't look at it as it was down to the store to deal with and they refused to deal with it, because I had it watercooled just to get it to work as the board had a water block already attached.

I know not many places are selling the X58 boards anymore, so you may be able to find one cheap on ebay.

You could also look and see if anyone on here has one for sale.

Thats generally graphics if sound continues. Overclocks stable? Reset all CMOS and overclocks, and run unigine loops for an hour or so

What about the PSU? This could also be a power issue I think. Try it in another machine, or better try another psu in yours?

Generally I think swapping parts around until it doesn't happen is the only way. If that doesn't fix it then it must be the mobo/cpu. From the message you got last about it resetting the BIOS sounds similar to an unstable over-clock. If that's the case then it points towards the mobo or cpu itself, even if you aren't over-clocking.

i think i could try to reset CMOS, however i dont have any other psu..

aswell you guys think the problem is hardware, but the crash started after i updated my driver, and stopped when i downgraded( updated again becaus of games ).

Well it depends. It is more likely to be drivers, especially if you're using nvidia. List your specs? It may be easier if you start a new thread about you specific problem

Im using the HD 6850 on a asrock 770 extreme 3 with phenom II X4 955

However i can try to just return it to the shop as i dont have any psu or other computer i can test it in, and eventough most likely nothing will happen i dont like to screw with bios or anything in that direction.

Reset the cmos and check for the latest BIOS updates - not really screwing with it, you should be checking for that anyway.

Try reseating the graphics card.

What psu are you running?

i have the xfx PRO550

i ( & my dad ) already updated my bios after the crashes came, didnt work, but can ofcourse try it again. and as for resetting the cmos, i know how to do it now but what do i have to do with this:

The data in CMOS includes
system setup information such as system password, date, time, and system
setup parameters.

Do i manually have to set those again or?

you can check the event viewer and see if there is a clue there. if the OS expeienced
the same, it'll be there. i've been able to recapture errors (especially rendering) on blackouts
through using the event viewer in admin tools. if the descript isn't clear, you can copy paste
error into google and get a bunch of info on the error.
sorry you are having this issue. fustrating, i know!

Does it matter or i first clear cmos and then update bios or first update bios and the clear cmos?

Event viewer:

I find multiple critical errors which stand for the crashes, however nothing infront of it..
Critical: The system has been restarted without first shutting down correctly. This error might be caused becaus the system doesn't respond or a power failure.

Then alot of other "errors", 3 of them happend multiple times:
1. The AODDriver4.1-serivce can becaus of this errors not start:
The system can't find the file
2. Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller is disconnected from network.
3. The AMD FUEL Service-service has unexpectly shutdown

( hand translated )

AOD? Are you running an overclocked card?

As for the BIOS, update first - than normally wipes the cmos anyway, but do both to be sure. Probably wont fix anything, but it's good to do anyway

i can overclock with ccc yes, tried it a few times but probally it hasnt even been overclocked for more then 1 hour, stock now ( crashes started before overclocking )

AOD is the overclocking part of CCC - AMD OverDrive. Are you sure clocks are set to stock? Try uninstalling and reinstalling all the drivers
And reseat the card

ive just updated bios ( woho, actually its so easy lol ) and reseated my graphic card. currently reinstalling driver.. any idea how i can test it after?

okay guys, nothing bad has happend yet but ill have to see for a few more days maybe even weeks. thank you to everyone that has helped.
