Blu Ray gets more good news

That is impressive.. I figured there would be a gap but didn't know how big. Were there any figures on how many HD-DVDs had been bought?

HDDVD should just be...i dunno

i dont think they should discontinue it

surely they can find another use for it..

it is a technology after all

perhaps as a high definition audio cd?

or...perhaps as a pc backup storage media?

and have drives that can run either...

because asmuch as bluray is better, HDDVD is still good....

thats a bit like saying there's no point in LCD because we have plasma....in telly's

they both do the same job, one is SLIGHTLY better than the other, but both still sell......

Not really, you can still play any device on a plasma you can on an LCD, as long as the inputs allow it

Yes that's the case with LCD and plasma, but not with Blu Ray and HD DVD...as demonstrated in my news article.

Having the movie studios split into two camps with movies split into two differing divisions with two separate formats makes no sense. That means to watch all of your favourite movies you would (or did) have to buy two players. Now THAT is VERY bad for the consumer and ultimately has led to confusion and a lack of consumer support for any type of HD format...when we should be stepping forward and embracing these steps into new and exciting technology.

/me gets off soapbox :p

or we could get players that play both formats, then the film studio's can use whatever format they want, and consumers have no confusion as they just put the disk in, and it works...

We had that and it didn't work

I read somewhere that the Xbox 360 is being pulled from alot of shops because it is rumoured they are bringing out a new revision with a Blue Ray drive :o

All just rumours though, nothing official.

But yea I am surprized at how well Blue Ray has done.

I honestly though HD-DVD was going to win considering how VHS won over Sony's Betamax and Sony's Minidisk never really took off.

Finally it looks like we are at an age where enough people know enough about technology to choose the superior product.

I guess it's just lucky that HD-DVD doesn't come on snazzy looking white disks with an apple logo on top (ipod users - please don't hit me :p)

Well there is the white flag! :)

Well done sony, you have brought it back.

The war is over guys.. we can all go home.
