Hey guys,
Been a while since I posted anything. Made a few changes to "The Incredibly Thristy Hulk", but that'll be a separate post altogether later on.
Anyway, I had my cousin's black Bitfenix Shinobi lying around (he got a Switch 810 recently), and decided to give a go at some of the suggestions TTL made in a few of his shinobi videos. This would be my first experience with any case modding, so I hope the results aren't disappointing for you guys.
First off was the mesh colour. They came black by default, and since I had some AMD hardware lying around, red was the obvious choice here. I also wanted to do something about the side panel window because the smoked acrylic w/ fan grill wasn't doing it for me (even though the hardware inside wasn't going to be high-end).
I'm sorry there aren't many pictures from before I started the mod...it was a spontaneous last-minute project I decided to do over the long weekend, but I'm sure everyone's familiar with how the Shinobi looks out-of-the-box

Mesh panels
First task was removing the mesh and sanding it down. Don't have a picture of the fully sanded mesh grills, but here's a progress shot:
Started with 80 grit, and worked my way up
Ready for some paint. Few coats of primer and early coats of red
Got too caught up in work and forgot to take more pictures during the painting process, but basically coated until i got the finish I wanted. I think it was roughly 5 coats in total...here's what they look like back on the case!
I wanted the logo to have a really nice shine to contrast the rubbery surface of the shinobi. what do you guys think? (sorry for the off-centered picture)
And finally, a view of the full case. Sorry, I was not aware of the piss poor lighting of this picture when I saved it...

Side Panel Window
I would've done work on the side panel while waiting for the layers of paint to dry, but because I started this mod late Friday night, the hardware store wasn't open for me to get the acrylic for the window
Got up early to grab some the next morning though! Got two 18x24" sheets just in case I screwed up my first one (never worked with acrylic before). Acrylic thickness was 0.08 inches.
Was busy most of Saturday, so modding had to commence later that night, but that's alright because it gave the paint time to cure before sticking them back on the case!
Mesh panels back on the case, time to get cutting!
I don't own a dremel (yet!), so I had to score the acrylic with an x-acto knife then snap it. Since it was a fairly thin sheet, the cuts were very straight and clean. First cut:
Finished cutting to size, time to remove the ugly stock window!
Removing the window is as simple as popping the plastic clips from behind with a screwdriver or something blunt
The clip at the very top is what it looks like when you pop them off. The clips are housed in a little holder, which you can pull them out of, but I ended up cutting off the tops to glue them on just for looks
Clips removed and shafts cut off. Girlfriend said they looked like M&M's
I guess I never saved the picture I took before sticking the acrylic on, but I basically used double-sided foam tape around the edges where the acrylic would meet the side panel, and just dropped it in place. After that, I used krazy glue to stick the "bolt" tops back on (couldn't find my hot glue gun).

Seems as though my pictures with the hardware in got misplaced, but I promise to post more pictures when I go back home after final exams!
Anyways, sorry there's no picture of the completed case showing both the window and mesh, but you guys can use your imagination in the mean time
Personally would like to thank Tom for the thoroughly instructional videos. They're the only reason why this case mod turned out even decently nice!
