Keep in mind that bigbeta requires 12 cores minimum (6 + hyperthreading would work). There are ways around this, but it requires some "workarounds" that some consider less than legitimate. On the other hand, if you can get the work done before the deadline, then does it really matter?
But no, your 2600k would not natively be able to fold bigbeta without some extra tweaking. Plus you wouldn't be leaving yourself with very much room for the deadline, so it would have to be a pretty stable folding rig 24/7.
