Hey I was wondering how much RAM does -BigAdv Units use? Is 4Gb enough for 24/7 Bigadv folding?

It should be. Usually 1GB per core works out well, IMO.

If you can get 8GB then I would, the rest of the OS will appreciate it whilst you're Folding.

Yeah, a fair bit. You'll also be able to get the BigBeta WU worth more points and bigger bonus points.

Keep in mind that bigbeta requires 12 cores minimum (6 + hyperthreading would work). There are ways around this, but it requires some "workarounds" that some consider less than legitimate. On the other hand, if you can get the work done before the deadline, then does it really matter?

But no, your 2600k would not natively be able to fold bigbeta without some extra tweaking. Plus you wouldn't be leaving yourself with very much room for the deadline, so it would have to be a pretty stable folding rig 24/7.

A question to the big folders here, Those WUs you run the bigbeta flag for, are they just 6903s and 6904s?

if so, you can ditch the bigbeta flag, as they are released to the regular bigadv (as long as your system has the right specs ofcourse)

Source Haven't seen the announcement on the 6904s but they are regular bigadv now.

Cheers for the heads up. I found got a far greater number of the BigBeta WU using the BigBeta flag but I'll swap over and see what happens.
