BF3 Crashes

Hi,

Again small problems with my new 670...

BF3 keeps crashing. The game runs perfectly fine, and then suddenly minimises and completely stops responding. Any ideas why?

My overclocks I currently have set to 1170 core click and 6408 memory clock. I did get them higher, but tried to decrease to save on temps, but didnt really need to.

I was testing with an hour of unigine, so it should be stable.

Any ideas whats happening?

Normal I think - 301.42

It could have been because I didnt have Precision X loaded up during the game, so it may not have done the fan curves correctly but I'm unsure.

I dont really have a clue what I'm doing with nvidia :P

get rid of the overclocks, i fold for 12 hours a day on mine and haven't ever had a problem but for some stupid reason battle-field just doesnt like them :L its been reported all over there forums and yet it still seems to play up.

hope it helps

Yea sounds like the over-clock to me too. Worth testing with out anyway. Remember that synthetic benchmarks will only get you 95% of the way there so don't be entirely surprised even after cycling unigine you get crashes. Try at stock and work up from there again?

I've taken clocks down by 25mhz on memory and core clock and I havent had any crashes since, so we'll see if this continues.
Thanks for the help.

Do you lot recommend using beta drivers btw?

Im glad its working for you, i had to drop mine from 920mhz on my gtx580 to about 890mhz, im overall gaming performance i think that loss is well worth the stability.

For drivers I used to use beta but i usually stick with a set for a longer time now as i know there stable and i wont have any problems.

the current beta release has allowed my card to run 1205gpu / 3225mem (6450) @1.04v without a hiccup (touch wood) and hasn't ever exceeded 74 degrees

It crashed again...

Now using better drivers with the clocks at 1150mhz on core and 1585 on memory. That seems very low to be unstable to me :/

My gigabyte 670oc is @ stock on 301.42 drivers and performs brilliant in bf3 on high I get between 140-200fps just leave it at stock you don't need to clock it for this game

The voltage is maxed, as is the power limit.

What is pagefile? How do i disable it?

Pagefile is kind of like a SWAP file in Linux, it's where Windows caches stuff that doesn't need to go to RAM. To turn it off, right click My Computer, Properties, Advanced System Settings, click Settings under Performance, then the Advanced tab, and click Change. Then click the "No Paging File" bubble, click Set, then OK OK OK OK OK...

If you have an SSD, you should disable the paging file anyway even if it doesn't solve your issue as it's completely unnecessary and just adds wear to the SSD.

i just moved the pagefile to a mechanical hdd instead lol

lol, I have an internalised external hard drive and an SSD. By internalised, I literally mean, usb cable routing through the back, round the back of the motherboard tray and hidden in the optical bays. And an SSD. I have no proper mechanical drives in the system so I dont think things would really be fast enough of the external/internal one :)
