BF2 Crashing to Desktop...

Hey all,

I know what you are all thinking, not another BF2 crashing topic

I have just recently upgraded to Vista 64 after playing BF2 perfectly fine on Windows XP Pro SP2 for years. Now I am running exactly the same setup and now the game randomly continues to crash to desktop with no error message every time I play. It could happen 5mins in or 30mins but I never get over an hours worth of gameplay before this occurs.

I have read about issues with Vista 64 and the X-Fi cards which is what I am running, anyone else found this to be a problem and by any chance came across a fix?

Also please note I have upgraded Vista to SP1 if that makes any different, I dont know.

Thanks alot, Sam

Havent touched Direct X since installing Vista.

As for BF2 having a safe mode, If it does, I am not aware of it.

it does

you dont try and play it....then your safe..sorry not helpful

isnt it some sort of memory issue that causes it to crash, something to do with how vista adresses memory(think i read that on bf2s.com)

I will try running a Mem Test and see what results I get but cant see the memory being the problem.

As for not playing BF2, I dont think I could manage without it :o

I didnt mean that the memory was at fault, what i ment was that bf2 and pb have certain memory leak problems which cause instability even more so with vista

Try Right clicking the BF2 exe file then select run as adminstrator.

I know this has fixed other BF2 and BF2142 problems when running on vista it might help you too.
