Movie adaptations of games/books are never that good, so I wouldn't be hopeful that this will be any different.
Although I did like Ready Player One and I enjoyed the book immensely.
I think you need to exclude books because there is a plethora of movies you probably were not even aware adapted from books.
Jack Reacher for example I thought was outstanding.
Twilight hugely successful although cringe worthy
Harry Potter probably the most successful of all
Snowpiercer is amazing, if you haven't seen the movie yet, you should.
Almost every Steven King movie of the 80s and 90s
I would say the list is endless.
Game wise, maybe mostly bad and some weak/watchable. Need for speed was decent though. I think the fault with games to movies is that often the stories lack so much content, there is too much filling going on, or the story is too long to fit in 1 movie, so too much cutting occurs that you find the plot a mess. Pretty much like the game Anthem itself
