Better fan for Tuniq Tower 120 & anyways to maximize cooling

Ok, so my setup so far is as follows:

Antec 900 case

Intel C2Q Q6600 G0 SLACR, lapped @3.4Ghz

Asus P5K

HIS Radeon HD380x2

OCZ Gamexsteam 600w

Tuniq Tower 120

4x120mm case fans (3 intake, 1 exhaust)

2x200mm case fan (exhaust)

CPU idle temp - 38C

CPU load temp - 59C

MB temp - 32C

3x HDD's @ 24-26C

The fans are in the standard places for the Antec 900, 2 on the HDD racks acting as intakes, 1 on the back behind the CPU acting as an exhaust and the extra one on the side window blowing onto the GPU. Then the 200mm exhaust above the CPU.

The only problem I have hit so far is that turning the fans on (I have wired them onto switches) causes a 2C temp rise on the CPU cores, though I think I may have put the heatsink back in upside down when I lapped the CPU, causing the fan to work against the 200mm fan.

Lapping the CPU gave me an 8C drop in idle temps and a 10C drop in load temps, which I am pretty chuffed with.

I know the obvious and easiest way to reduce temps anymore is to watercool, but I want to get as much as out of air as possible.

2 improvements i am thinking about at the moment is airflow across the bottom of the case, (top is ok as the window fan half blows above the GPU giving the CPU cool air where it needs it) the HD3870x2 is a big GPU and has pretty much cut the airflow off from the HDD intakes to the exhausts by the CPU, and a better fan for the Tuniq Tower 120.

So 2 questions really:

1) Recommendations for a good fan to put in the Tuniq Tower 120, noise isn't an issue as the computer already sounds like it is trying to take off, price isn't an issue either, as far as i know fans aren't bank breaking?

2) Do any fans/home mods exist that attach fans to empty PCI holes, I'm only using 2 for the GPU so everything below the top PCIe slot is empty.

1) Buy yourself a Delta rofl. Seriously though, there are quite a few alternatives out there that will do the job and be a little easier on the ears. Check out some Scythe Ultra Kaze or Yate Loon fans.

2) Akasa produce some and you can find them at Komplett

The ultra Kaze's will not fit in the tuniq. Only 25mm thick fans. tbh, there aren't many fans that push more than the tuniq stock fan.

Try this fan: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FG-003-YS

YS-tech 120x120x25mm 105 cfm , 6.20 mm-H2O , GREAT static pressure for pushing through the fins. You should notice an improvement over most 25mm fans.

From a Noise/ Performance point I would get the Scythe S-Flex "F", but from a price point, the Zalman FM-3 are very nice, yet they push a lil bit more air but they are a tad more noisy ( hum noise)

Seanrb - I'll let you know how my Q6600 gets on under a Tuniq Tower 120 (which is fitted with a 1200rpm Scythe fan) before the week is out. I'm anticipating reasonable temps and acceptable noise levels..

These fans are quite pricey relative to yate loons but have worked well for me on other builds.

Whoops, didn't realise this thread was still going :p

My Tuiniq Tower is sitting in a box at the moment, i decided to put my Q6600 on water so i could clock it further. It will be going on my AMD board once i get round to buying a processor for it.

Cheers for the advice though, it will come in handy when i set my AMD build up.
