ok im going all SSDs in my next build and wont to know the best drives for difrent applications

- 1st drive will be for the OS and wont be in raid

- the other two drives will be in raid 0 and will be for games, programs and the rest

so my question what would be the best PERFORMING drive for both the OS and mass storage

Well you'll have to look up individual read speeds but there tends to be very little difference between the recommended SSDs (crucial m4, Samsung 830 or the more expensive intel 520).

Different programs and games demand different data loads so it's impossible for us to tell you which is fastest for your uses. Generally looking at 4k speeds will get you most of the way there.

Raid isn't worth it imo. SSDs are fast enough. If you want to go faster then look into pcie SSDs but both of those options will be blown away by spending the same money on a storage HDD and a few gb of RAM to make a Ramdisk.

Yeh - Dont bother with that at all...

Get like a 256gb (or more) Crucial M4 and just put everything on there. Forget about the RAID.
Then you may need a HDD for storage, but you'll be surprised how many programs you can get on a 256gb SSD, including games and windows.

i would go for one big ssd instead of several, and ssd raid will lose trim support as far as im aware. id go for a samsung or crucial ssd as they are both reliable and don't suffer with incompressible data like sandforce ssd's
