Hi everyone, I have done a lot of searching , across many forums and utube videos , I want ask what is the best cpu for gaming with two gtx 1080 gpus, I have a rog pg348q monitor and want to max out games , my friend has a 6700k at 4.7 and two 1080 fe with 16 gigs ddr4 3200 speed ram cl14 , with my monitor most AAA games dearly break 65 to 70 fps, some sources say that 6700k is bottle necking at 8x8 sli , would a 6850 at 4.4 to 4.5 be better, any help would be great thanks .

Hey dude i am on the same page as you, also running two 1080s in sli and also thinking that my 6700K i the bottleneck..
Youd get some better results by going up to X99 with a 40 lane CPU but it will be cpu bound games and nothing to do with the 8x8 vs 16x16

The problem for me is that i already had an system with an X99 System with an Rampage V extreme, just had some usb issues with the x99 system, change MObo, ram mutilble times, and nothing worked, so i change to the z170 system with one 980TI, and there was no usb problems. i will hate to change back to x99 and get problems again, maybe better with the new CPU and mobos?

Yeah and no, i have found out now, when i am doing 4k stuff, 4k stream at twitch and play a game on the same time, lets say overwartch, then i can see the cpu is getting hit to muss. That problem was not there before. So mutil tasking was better.
I just use my system for gaming and web surfing, would the 6700k oc at 4.8 be better for sli gaming

Since I changed to X99 after asking the boy's on these forums I couldn't be happier, my sli 980ti's fly and my games have never looked better nor has my system been stabler either so i'd recommend something like the MSI X99 pro carbon or Asus ROG Strix x99 gaming with a 6850K
