hey guys,

I've got some spare money here and want to upgrade my pc.

I'm getting a lot of bsod and not working audio lately so i want a new mb.

but i'm also thinking the bsod could be because my cpu is unstable (runs perfectly on prime and occt(athlonII unlocked to quad @3.6ghz)

If i get the mb (990FX-UD5) I could possibly clock my cpu higher and/or buy a 1090t next month, while if i just get a 1090t I might still be in bsod trouble.

what would you suggest me? mb or cpu ? or just get a sound card ?

if the cpu is unstable because of current clock and/or being unlocked (the reason their locked to start with is AMD wasnt able to guarantee stability) I'd say cpu but you didnt mention what mobo you're currently using nor any of ur other hardware. So with the limited info I'd say cpu

MB is some asrock 890gx extreme 3

cpu was a athlon II X3 445

i just ran 3hours of linpack, perfectly stable.. gpu is a gigabyte wf460 psu only 500w

i was thinking of mb now, cpu next month, then psu and another 460

mobo isnt ur issue imho. and you wont see any added benefits from 890 to 990 chipsets I'd go psu cpu gpu and then mobo that 500watt psu may be causing some issues as its right at max ya need specially since ur overclocked and unlocked

What make is your PSU? if its a cheapy one like winpower then 100% change that first then the cpu.

Try running the cpu back as an x3 and/or drop down on the overclock and see if that removes the lock up and sound problems.

OCZ modxtream 500w, stock bios doesnt change anything

could it be that it sometimes crashes because windows is damaged a bit ? can u guys tell me a good restore program ? (just did a cleanup with ccleaner)
