Best board for my RAM?

Got meself a s939 A64 3500+, and am unsure which motherboard to buy to run with 2x 512 Corsair XMS4000Pro. I'm torn between the Abit AV8 and Asus A8V- I was told that the timings on this ram (3-4-4-7) aren't great for overclocking on a board with no PCI/AGP lock (the A8V) and that the AV8 which does have locks would enable a much higher OC by altering the FSB.

Just want some opinions and the like.

With no locks, how do you overclock at all?? Sorry, bit of a n00b with A64's...

i'm no expert, but i thought that if you can't lock your agp/pci clock and you start pushing up your fsb the agp/pci clocks would increase as well. which we all know is not good. i'd go for the one with locks.

I know what board i would get but it all depends how long u can wait as i dont think its released yet.. but i might be wrong.

chiyau - Is that just the board or can you get a BIOS flash to make it a rev2?

thats the board which is available this month, but there is a beta bios which locks the pci/agp on the A8V 1.2 revision boards.

Nice one mate, cheers. I've got the job of putting Arts system together and if theres a way to lock the AGP and PCI, may aswell do it instead of changing the boards over ;).
